Anybody just feel shaking in the Dallas/Irving area?

I looked them up last year when Snyder was getting all those eq's. I was trying to find one over here that I had seen some years back. Never did find that one.

Damm. I would love to have seen that. We have some massive lightning storms, but have only seen ball lightning twice.

I'm gonna drive to that area next weekend. If I see any sign, I'll post some pictures.

Everytime I get off the caprock, it makes me want to stop and take LOTS of pics, and take some new geology courses! Mine were WAY too long ago!LOL

yeah there was weird rumbling from the sky. ive heard it last week but earlier was different in a weird tone.

I thought I heard something a few weeks ago, but it woke me up and I'm still not sure I really did. You know? I'll start listening closer. My dog has been barking at night for no reason lately. We haven't had any coyotes for awhile, but the dog's an idiot anyway!

yeah our was barking contiuously for about half an hour, then she stopped and i got on the net and read that dallas had a quake.

Nope. Just ass loads of rain. It totally ruined my plans for Fright Fest tonight.

Now I know he's an idiot! He's all tucked in his kennel, quiet as can be. Not a very good eq detector, but we love him anyway.

I've been interested in geology all my life, but only recently started to get involved again. Did some digging in the back yard and came up with quartz crystal about 3 feet down. Best I can tell, it shouldn't be there. Any ideas?

My dog has been acting up for the past 24 hours, crying, barking, pacing, tearing his toys up, etc. After the quake he curled up on the kitchen floor and went to sleep. Apparently he's a pretty good quake dog. But..if I lived in California where things shake all the time I would probably have to shoot him..and myself too!

Is this another one or a revised.... They were about 5 minutes apart

I don't think so, Cowgirl. Look at the location coordinates and the distances from the epicenter. They're different.

My daughter lives in Irving. When the quake hit, she thought someone was running up and down the hall and stairs of her apartment complex...twice. One of her dogs was going bonkers during the shake, but then calmed down.

Either that or they are tracking them with the new I-phone 5 and the GPS is messed up.

I just checked the NSGS site and discovered there was a 3.1 near Irving Texas and a 3.4 near University Park.

What's your soil like? Is it clay or sandy?

Holy moly. 3.4M isn't huge, but for that area it's extremely unusual. Hmm. Wonder if there's gonna be anymore shakin' goin' on?

Sorry B, didn't see this post til now. I'll defer to the expert, but I'm an occasional rockhound and quartz has a habit of turning up everywhere it seems. I've even found it come up in our caliche and it shouldn't be there either. How big was the piece?

Didn't feel a damn thing in Fort Worth.

We got about 2 inches of rain today after being dry for a long time. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?
