Maine will vote on introducing same-sex marriage (brought to the ballot by supporters) - Polls show it passing.

Washington and Maryland will vote on whether or not to veto the same-sex marriage laws passed by their state legislators. Polls show a wide lead in WA for upholding same-sex marriage (which previously upheld civil unions by a popular vote) and a moderate lead in Maryland for SSM.

Additionally Minnesota will vote on whether or not to constitutionally ban gay marriage next month.

Obviously it looks extremely likely that at least one state will be the first in US history to vote for same-sex marriage. What will the ramifications be? The Right like to point out that SSM has been voted down 29 out of 29 times, so a victory would obviously be a major turning point in the debate. It also opens up a severe anti-federalist argument against the "Federal Marriage Amendment", supported in the Republican platform and by the Romney campaign, which seeks to roll back all same-sex marriage nationwide. Obviously, assuming people vote for SSM in one or more states on November 6th, then the implication would be that said Amendment seeks to trample on state rights and democracy.
