Muslims in Dearborn rally against free speech, call for anti-blasphemy laws

Which supersedes our freedom of speech.

That is one of the things I do not understand about Islam, and I do wish they could explain to me. Freedom of speech is very important, because if opinions may not be spoken, then they cannot be examined and thought about, and people become slaves to a narrower set of ideas. What I do not understand is why they think their opinions maybe spoken about freely, but others not. To commit blasphemy, you must believe in the thing you are blaspheming. If you do not believe in it, then you cannot commit blasphemy. It seems to me that Muslims are demanding some sort of special status, such that their ideas are to apply to everyone, even if you do not believe in it.

If they do not want to hear ideas that conflict with their own, all they have to do is close their ears, eyes and minds. I mean there is lots about Islam that I personally would find very offensive, but I do not get offended because I do not go to the places, magazines and web sites where they say and do offensive things.

By the way, I believe if we explore their Islamic beliefs, it explains their behavior regarding blasphemy:

Qur'an (6:93) - "Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah?"

Qur'an (33:57) - "Lo! those who malign Allah and His messenger, Allah hath cursed them in this world and the Hereafter, and hath prepared for them the doom of the disdained"

Qur'an (33:61) - [continues from above] "Accursed, they will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter."

Bukhari (59:369) - This recounts the murder of Ka'b bin al-Ashraf, a Jewish poet who wrote verses about Muslims that Muhammad found insulting. He asked his followers, 'Who will rid me of this man?' and several volunteered. al-Ashraf was stabbed to death while fighting for his life.

Bukhari (3:106) - "The Prophet said, "Do not tell a lie against me for whoever tells a lie against me (intentionally) then he will surely enter the Hell-fire."

Bukhari (4:241) - Those who mocked Muhammad at Mecca were killed after he had retaken the city and asserted his authority.
