Anonymous Coward User ID: 62166 Panama 01/14/2006 07:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NBC anchorman Tom Brokaw agreed with the policy. "I don't think a journalist ought to be wearing a flag, because it does seem to be, to me at least, a sign of solidarity toward whatever the government is doing, and that is not our role," said Brokaw. "It’s hard to be a patriotic journalist," CBS anchor Dan Rather told NBC’s "Access Hollywood." "Journalists need to be skeptical. Not cynical but skeptical. And they need to be independent."... [link to www.frontpagemag.com] Yeah, it's old news, but I remember it being a bit of a controversy a few years ago. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 42372 United Kingdom 01/14/2006 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've come across these, I'm not sure they're an elitist thing. I live in the UK, I met an American woman at a conferance here, shortly after 9/11. She offered one of these to me as a 'gift' to be worn as a symbol of solidarity or commemoration of 9/11 or something. She was pretty ticked off when I refused it. I'm looking at America planning a world wide police state, because someone dared to bring home the violence they have exported for decades and I'm supposed to express solidarity with those stealing my freedom? Not elitist, just sheepist |
