No American in their right mind would do that kind of work for $12 hr. 2 years ago when employment of illegals wasnt so illegal this job would not even last 2 days before being filled for the same payrate or less. Guess how applications I have gotten. $12 an hour. Lets say they keep 70%. That's less than $1400 net each month. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9106140 So you get to live in a shitty apartment and stay home every night. Quit comparing the wage to some fantasy that you have about life. I'm not saying $12 is a bad wage, but its not great. Do you need skills? Are you sure no one applied or did the HR people tell you that? Sometimes HR will say that cause no one they want ou to hire applied or they're interviewing for another job. Just sayin' And are you blaming the Fed for that? Because that's who has causes the relentless increase what things cost. Blame the Fed, and only elect politicians who promise to end the Fed. But you probably thought Ron Paul was a crackpot, right? And Gary Johnson, would never get your vote, right? People today, with practically 0 knowledge of history or economics, or common sense, really, take it for granted that the price of bread has to rise year after year after year. Have you ever wondered why it rises in price? Really, what causes the price to increase? Is farming more or less efficient than it was 50 years ago? Much, much more efficient. Is transportation more or less efficient than it was 50 years ago? Even though the price of gas has gone up, total transportation efficiency is much higher. So is bread 1000% of what it was in 1970? You and everyone else is getting royally screwed by the Fed and other central bankers worldwide. confuser |

My wife works for 7.25 an hour, and we get by. 12 an hour isn't bad at all, for a job that essentially doesn't have education requirements. I have a 4 year degree, and graduated with high honors from a fairly decent law school, and I would GRATEFULLY take this job, if I lived in Texas. Hell of a lot better than the pathetic job search I do now. This economy sucks. But complaining about a decent job is idiotic. Is it easy to survive on 12 an hour in this economy? NO. Can it be done? YES. Is it better than not working at all? Absolutely. |
