Virgin Mary statue unearthed outside Boston

Residents of a Boston suburb assisted living facility were thrilled to learn a construction crew unearthed a Virgin Mary statue out of the ground, just in time for Christmas.

The four-foot concrete statue was found in the ground last week during construction in an area next to the Golden Pond facility in Hopkinton, Mass., CBS Boston affiliate WBZ-TV reports.

The facility's executive director, Bill Marr, said the statue was in excellent condition, considering it was probably underground for at least 20 years.

**"It's even beyond incredible that it was found 20 days before Christmas," Marr told WBZ-TV. "The timing of the year could be more symbolic.

UPDATE!

According to Mail Online, Kate Middleton is only around NINE weeks pregnant, not twelve like previously mentioned!

This makes the DUE DATE around the END of July...CLOSE TO THE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the London Olympics !!

Timing of conception...around HALLOWEEN ! And of course when Hurricane Sandy hit the NYC metro area !

The number 9 is Kate's number and with the TWIN satellites crash landing tomorrow, we still have yet to know if there's only one child or two...



Kate really IS feeling better: Pregnant Duchess will present Sports Personality of the Year tonight in her first public appearance since leaving hospital

- Kate, 30, is only likely to attend the event in London for around 45 minutes
- She will be 'on her own' as Prince William is back at work as an RAF pilot
- First sign that Duchess is slowly recovering from acute morning sickness

But when her first child is born next year, the third-in-line to the throne’s Royal pedigree will not be the only blue blood in the newborn’s family tree.

New research has revealed that she is related to one of Britain’s grandest families and can count a prime minister, earls and countesses among her kin. The news has been welcomed by the Duchess, who was informed of her aristocratic heritage during the first few weeks of her pregnancy.

A previously unpublished side of the Duchess’ family tree has uncovered her link to William Petty FitzMaurice, the 1st Marquess of Lansdowne, who served as prime minister from 1782 to 1783 and is best remembered by historians for negotiating the end of the American War of Independence.

NASA Moon Probe Crash: Grail Spacecraft 'Ebb' & 'Flow' To Smash Into Lunar Surface On Monday

Two NASA moon probes will end their gravity-mapping mission in spectacular fashion Monday (Dec. 17), crashing intentionally into a cliff near the lunar north pole.

The twin Grail spacecraft, known as Ebb and Flow, will slam into the raised rim of a moon crater at 5:28 p.m. EST (2258 GMT) Monday, mission team members said today (Dec. 13). The probes will impact about 20 seconds apart, with each traveling at 3,760 mph (6,050 kph) or so.

The crash zone is far from any area where previous moon missions — such as NASA's Apollo efforts — touched down, so Grail's final moments won't endanger sites of historical importance, officials said.

LUNAR GRAVEYARD: HOW THE EBB AND FLOW WILL BE IN GOOD COMPANY

More than 100 missions have been flung to Earth's nearest neighbor since the dawn of the Space Age including NASA's six Apollo moon landings that put 12 astronauts on the surface.

The demise of Ebb and Flow comes on the same month as the 40th launch anniversary of Apollo 17, the last manned mission to the moon.

Ebb and Flow focused exclusively on measuring the moon's lumpy gravity field in a bid to learn more about its interior and early history. After flying in formation for months, they produced the most detailed gravity maps of anybody in the solar system.

Secrets long held by the moon are spilling out. Ebb and Flow discovered that the lunar crust is much thinner than scientists had imagined. And it was severely battered by asteroids and comets in the early years of the solar system - more than previously realized.

Data so far also appeared to quash the theory that Earth once had two moons that collided and melded into the one we see today.

Besides a scientific return, the mission allowed students to take their own pictures of craters and other lunar features as part of collaboration with a science education company founded by Ride, who died in July of pancreatic cancer at age 61.

About 3,600 classrooms around the world participated, sending back 114,000 photos.

Scientists expect to sift through data and images from the $487 million mission for years.

When Kate Middleton and Prince William welcome their first child (or children, if it's twins) next year, they will once again break with royal tradition. While British rulers have typically enlisted full-time teams to help with newborns, the Duke and Duchess, both 30, plan to handle the lion's share of childrearing, sources tell Us Weekly.

Still, Kate plans on returning to her work as a volunteer for the Scouts and other charity organization -- which means the royal couple will hire a part-time nanny. "They want to be as hands on as possible," one insider says.
