Not true. The original church began at Pentecost and was originally composed entirely of Jew s. Then it became clear that the Gentiles were not to be excluded, but the church didn't really extend much beyond Israel until the persecution started. There were no regional or authoritarian, hierarchical groups until after the apostles all died, and it was predicted that "from among you" wolves would arise and scatter the flock. History, esp. as reported by the noted historian Philip Schaff, tells us that this is exactly what happened. So the roots of a hierarchical and centrally-controlled organization, in contrast to the organism found in scripture, began to appear about the late second century. So I view the RCC as the corruption, the impostor, and the Reformation and Orthodox as just variations on that theme. So if the RCC is anything original, it would be as the anti-church.
