It appears the cleanup-drainage efforts are succeeding, although more connected bubble sites are now popping up as far as 3 miles away.

Re: Latest footage of Louisiana Sinkhole, taken TODAY!
I'm having trouble coming up with the reason they are cleaning the debris off the top...I mean, this is a 300-400 ft deep hole that just keep swallowing the surrounding land and the 100' trees!!! Are they wanting to see the vortex better as it ains speed??

And I wonder how much that operator is making per hour in hazard pay - after all, the road he's on was about 20 ft longer last week, before the end of it sloughed off into the hole! Not sure I'd want to be in a heavy machine working right there, personally! Not to mention the diesel floating on the surface and the gas bubbling up...

I wish they would give us some real and truthful info about what is really going on and what the true hazards are. THe folks that live in the area deserve no less.

Thanks for posting the vid, OP!

If the salt dome is sinking - and there's every indication that it is - there's no place safe for at least a three mile radius, probably much larger.

Yes.

Or maybe I am to lazy to read twelve pages of something I know nothing about and may not be very interested in and wanted a brief overview.

I'll answer that question for you. They are back to attempting to clean the diesel because folks won't stop bitching about the occasional smell of diesel when it rains, or there has been another slough. People are wanting to contribute the smell of diesel to causing health problems. Headaches, skin and eye irritation, etc., EVEN though they have been TOLD to evacuate, and are being paid a fair amount to do so, but choose to stay, and bitch.

I have been back and forth and have smelled the diesel. Unpleasant, but not ever overwhelinglingy so such as the day the sinkhole happened. It has only given me a headache that day. Those fumes, like any other fume, such as smoke, effects different people differently. I know people that can't stand to be around cigarette smoke, or even the smell of barbequing smoke because it gives them a headache. Answer to the problem? Get your ass away from it, especially when you have been told to do so.

Then you get those looking for their 15 minutes of fame, claiming that they are speaking for everyone each and every time they say we want this, and we want that, and we think this, and we think that, and the officials feel pressured to respond and act. They told us when the cleanup effort stopped, that it was stopped because it was too unsafe a situation. They have kept us informed that the cleanup effort will resume when it is felt to be safe. Yet, there are those that knowing this, keep pushing and pushing, regardless, with public statements to those that DON'T know the why, such as this.

"They really need to clean up this diesel and get it out of there. I don't know what's taking them so long. I mean it's been 2 months" (activist)

Here is a one hour radio talk show I came across.

At 46:00 the talk of the diesel and how it's "making everyone sick" comes up. Then this comment is made at 46:45.

"They really need to clean up this diesel and get it out of there. I don't know what's taking them so long. I mean it's been 2 months" (activist)

Seriously? So it seems alleviating peoples headaches is more important than the possibility that the sinkhole can expand at any time, and kill people.
