Oregon farmer eaten by his hogs

believe it or not this is fairly common...

There are several scenarios being investigated, including that Mr. Garner had a health event, such as a heart attack, which then put him in a position where the hogs could consume him. Another scenario being investigated is that given the age and health of Mr. Garner, that one or more of the hogs knocked Mr. Garner to the ground, whereupon that hogs killed and consumed him.

Never heard of it in my 58 years in Mississippi.

I knew a farmer in my area who died of a heart attack (assumption because he had a heart condition) in the confinement building. There was nothing left but a few strips of clothes. Disgusting to think about for sure.

I grew up with a saying my grandmother used a lot, wherein when a person was looking for someone, the first thing she would say was 'he/she went to shit and the hogs ate him, but he'll be back, hogs gotta shit too!!'. When I was about 8 or 9 we started raising hogs to eat and my dad made sure we kids knew that pigs will EAT you if you lay down, so to NEVER go mess around in the pig pen. After my dads lecture my youngest sister piped up 'is that where the people Nana talks about go?'.

I remember in one of the Hannibal Lechter movies a guy being eaten alive by hungry hogs.

So this is why god told us not to eat pork, makes sense.

I've seen pigs bite 2X4's in half. They are extremely intelligent, but have no morals and will try to eat anyone or anything that they get a notion to take a bite out of.

One of the reasons why I won't raise them.

This happened in England in the early 1970s. The pigs ate almost everything.

Happened to my grandfather's neighbor. Almost completely consumed. Had forgotten about it until this story.

This farm is only about 15 km from my house.

Note to self: Be more alert when bicycling that road in the future..
