Truth hurts bro
Just because you're breathing doesn't mean that you're alive, just because you're human doesn't mean you have to die.

Nuke plants will start burning their 30 day supply of diesel to keep from melting.

Just eat the illegals.
Eat, drink, and be merry,
for tomorrow,
you may die.

Re: When the lights go out for good...
....you probably won't know any different. You'll wait awhile, maybe a day before you realize that everything is quiet, except for a few neighbors standing out on the street.

There won't be any information. No radio, no Internet. The whole grid will be down. From the Canadian border to the Gulf Coast. Nuke plants will start burning their 30 day supply of diesel to keep from melting.

After a few days most people will start to panic. The grocery stores will be empty. The gas left in your car will be all you have.

Then people will become agitated as they begin the grief cycle. Hungry, they'll start looking for food. Riots will break out if you live near a city or ghetto.

In a couple weeks, bodies will lie in the streets. Military will patrol demanding that you stay in your homes. You will be stuck.

In a few months most of the elderly will have died off. People will have either killed themselves, been killed, or gone crazy from starvation. Just like in all famines, people will be eating their pets. You will try lawn grass for the first time. Then you will trade your dying children for the neighbors kids since you won't be able to eat your own. This is what happens in every famine. After that you'll eat shoe leather.

At some point after the die-off the military will show up with food. You will be emaciated and insane with hunger. The remaining people would storm the convoy but they are too weak.

As you line up for your ration an army medic stands by to give you your first round of inoculations. 20 at a time with an air gun. After a bowl of soup you are transported to a facility where your papers are reviewed.

This is likely for many many

but not for some

the smart ones will be out of the cities and into their own safe havens they have set up long before

Some will not be put into camps ; they will search for them

no doubt

This will not happen as it would critically damage infrastructure, decrease weapons production, and hamper the production of massive amounts of spare electrical power.

It will be swift. You will not have time to go anywhere.

When people get restless, they'll go to the rich houses. Once those are exhausted, I see your scenario. I wouldn't want to be in a kick ass house when the shtf.
