Good point though : ) The upper hand would be I will be mostly active during the Daylight searching out their Zombie Hives and frying them after eating my Eggs and Bacon. Well, try to sleep in trees at night time if possible - they can't climb trees very well. |

I've made one myself, thank you. Zombies are most active at night. The point about cotton versus wool is very good. I remember I went on a hiking trip and I was wearing the usual cotton socks and shirt. Both were soaked and the socks lead to my feet being blistered. It was a good thing the trip was for only one day. If it were a survival situation I would have been in trouble. I have some wool socks now... problem solved. Bring on the woods with these bad boys. Don't have the wool shirt yet but take my word for it, you will want them. No point in having a great weapon if you get in the woods and within a couple of days you're so out of sorts that you can't use it in a combat situation. Speaking of which, one great asset would be to get a horse. You can travel almost anywhere, won't run out of gas, can carry a lot of gear for you, and can outrun the zombies with ease. That being said, of course I would want a good bow and arrow. I have a compound bow with a nice assortment of arrows so I'm good there. In regards to melee, I'm undecided. The efficient part of me says get a machete, I want something that I can cut through the woods with as well as fight. But to be honest, if I get into it with zombies I would want an old broadsword/longsword. The katana is a great sword but its key features only becomes relevant when you are well trained. The broadsword has a better learning curve for an idiot like me and fits my style a bit more. But being that I don't have one, i'll just have to run with my machete and hatchet. At least I can make a good spear with them while in the woods. |

Anything I could bash its skull in with is a perfect weapon. A refrigerator door on over to a vacuum cleaner extension. I don't give two shits, if it gives me distance between me and the dead head, I'll take it. Spurt of the moment, react or be bit scenario? I'll gouge its phuckin eyes out. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 22214495 United States 10/02/2012 01:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Agreed. Snares are the key. If I have 2 hours of prep I can have 5 or 6 pinch points to my perimeter secured with snares that cause the bodies to pile up to the point that they can not climb over them. Tons of cordage from surplus cat5, to romex, hook up wire, clothes line, boat steering/dog cable, all the way up to tow straps and chains. Zombies are strong, but they can not pull out good anchors or pull down trees. The slipknots will cause them to lose appendages (including their heads) first. pile em up. When they are trying to get through the last breech point, I detonate the dynamite under one of the full up body walls they have abandoned. exit. and do it again at another location. I am an old dude. I do not have the endurance for sustained melee. |

So no doubt you would be faster than me if you are 50 or younger... You will always be fighting against mother nature so you have to be equipped for the weather. Get rid of your cotton socks. If you wear any cotton at all it will kill you. You need Wool Socks, Wool Baselayer, Insulation layers of wool, fleece or down and a Hardshell. Unless it's summer-time. Then cotton is tops. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23194397 Guns are useless as there is no ammunition/shells to be found. What weapons do you choose? How do you fortify your property? Zombie rules are the same as The Walking Dead. Damaging the brain kills them. They move at a moderate pace (no running). They can't climb or open doors. Well?
