PRE-9/11 ASSASSINATION: An Overlooked and VERY Important Event in the 9/11 Chronology. MUST READ!!!
On September 9, 200 (2 days before 9/11), Ahmad Shah Massoud ("The Lion of Panjir") was assassinated. He was an ethnic Tajik from the north of Afghanistan, and had battled the Soviet Union, as well as the Taliban. He was very well respected (even by his enemies) and loved by his allies. He was a coalition builder among the various tribes that constituted the resistance to both the Soviet communist occupation of Afghanistan, and the subsequent Taliban takeover of the country. He was a warrior who led courageously by example, proving his mettle time and time again for over 2 decades. Heavy on charisma, courage, and humility, he was the symbol of an Afghanistan nation, yearning to shed the yoke of oppressive rule, from wherever it came. He was loved like no other leader of his time anywhere in the world.

Suicide bombers, posing as a reporter and a cameraman (with the video camera and battery belt loaded with explosives) killed Massoud while conducting their much sought after interview with him. Tens of thousands of people in Afghanistan turned out to mourn his loss, and dignitaries from foreign nations paid their respects, as well.

Here's the connection to 9/11...

It's my contention (and that of many others) that there was foreknowledge of 9/11, and that roadblocks to its derailment be removed, thus clearing the way for a smooth "new Pearl Harbor" (ala the report "Rebuilding America's Defenses" by the Project for the New American Century), which would allow for neoconservative foreign policy objectives that otherwise would be unattainable.

Most of us have read the reports that an invasion of Afghanistan had been planned earlier in 2001.

Also, most of us recall Vice President Dick Cheney's secret energy meetings of February 2001, which a government watchdog group sued to have the minutes of be made public. The case went to the Supreme Court. Several weeks before the Court was to rule on the case, VP Dick Cheney went duck hunting in Louisiana with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for several days. (Gee, I wonder what Cheney discussed with him) Lo and behold, when it came time for the Supreme Court to rule on the case, it ruled that the minutes from VP Dick Cheney's secret energy meetings did NOT have to be made public.

Most of us also recall that, as Governor of Texas, George W. Bush facilitated a meeting between the Taliban government of Afghanistan and American oil interests in Texas in 1998. This meeting was to discuss a proposed pipeline that American oil executives wanted to build through Afghanistan (because they had to skirt Iran due to political considerations and sanctions) from the Caspian Sea Basin down through southern Pakistan and out to the Arabian Sea (Indian Ocean). It was reported that after much wrangling, the American oil delegation gave the Taliban an ultimatum: "We'll either carpet you in gold, or we'll carpet you in bombs." In other words, they made them an offer they couldn't refuse. But the Taliban DID refuse.

With the "new Pearl Harbor" (9/11) approaching, American officials wanted the "climate" in Afghanistan to be as much in our favor as possible. Meaning: American officials wanted an absolute puppet waiting in the wings to take power in Afghanistan, once the inevitable & planned military overthrow of the Taliban occurred. Someone America could control totally and absolutely. That man was/is Hamid Karzai. Prior to 9/11, Hamid Karzai worked for UNOCAL as that company's representative in Afghanistan. Don't be fooled by the tribal attire he wears. He's as much at home in that attire as Jesse Jackson would be wearing the white hood and sheet of the KKK. He's a western (specifically American) puppet.

However, the logical choice to head the new Afghanistan would be Ahmad Shah Massoud. There was no doubt in anyone's mind, if Afghanistan could once again win its freedom, Massoud was far and away the most eligible, credible, respected, loved, and charismatic person to rule Afghanistan. In a country where tribal disputes fractured the people, the National Hero of Afghanistan -- Ahmad Shah Massoud -- was a tried and tested coalition builder, proving his mettle doing so during the Soviet Occupation and the Taliban rule.

However, Massoud presented a problem for American officials in their post-Taliban Afghanistan. Massoud was capable of leading withOUT incredible amounts of foreign aid or military occupation. His life was a resume to assume leadership of the country he loved so much. But American officials needed someone who needed America as much or more than we needed them. Enter Hamid Karzai -- an installed puppet, who, without massive American monetary and military aid, would fall tomorrow, because he's not a well-respected, battle-tested, coalition-building, charismatic Mujahideen hero from past wars of freedom in Afghanistan. American officials wanted someone they could control. Someone who, when American officials said, "Jump!", he'd ask, "How high?" American officials wanted someone who so thoroughly needed American power to prop him up, that he wouldn't put up a fuss when American oil companies wanted to build a pipeline through his country...or re-allow the cultivation of the massive opium crop...or make military incursions into Pakistan...to prospect for valuable minerals like lithium (which is used to make batteries for computers, smart phones and smart pads, and which Afghanistan is loaded with).

The timing was perfect. On September 9, 2001, the two suicide bombers (believing they were doing the Taliban's or al Qaeda's or whomever's will -- all of whom at their highest level work for American intelligence, as they were a creation of American intelligence in the 1980s, and have never stopped being so; but of whom at their lower levels genuinely believe they're engaged in a religious war) assassinated Ahmad Shah Massoud, the Lion of the Panjir (which is the valley in northern Afghanistan where he was from).

Now the stage was set. The Taliban's days were numbered after the soon to be completed 9/11 "terrorist attack". The slate was wiped clean for successor to rule Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai was waiting in the wings. We had our puppet, and his only competition had now been eliminated.

This is one of the most important and least known about incidents in the run-up to 9/11. It was imperative for this horrendous assassination to occur in order for the neoconservatives to get what they wanted after the American invasion of Afghanistan.

Interesting. Never heard one peep about this from any of the conspiracy sites.

Which leads me to believe it is actually very close to the truth.

That's okay.

I do. And by "inside job", I mean that certain elements within our government bureaucracy (intelligence/military) removed the roadblocks that would prevent this intelligence operation from occurring successfully.

Politicians (presidents and congress) come and go. Bureaucracies remain and are entrenched, developing agendas over decades. Iran Contra was a good example of that. And that's just one we know of.

There is far too much circumstantial evidence, imo, for it not to have been allowed (and facilitated) to happen.

9/11 foreknowledge/preemptive planting of "evidence":

Massoud's assassination.

Operation Able Danger.

Arabic student pilots telling their instructors they only want to learn to fly; not to take off or land.

Arabic guys drinking, talking loud, claiming to be American Airlines pilots at a bar in south Florida.

VP Cheney's secret energy meetings in Feb 2001.

August 6, 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing memo saying "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Within U.S." -- preemptively giving us our culprit.

FBI agents in Minneapolis and Phoenix reporting to superiors about suspicious activity regarding arabic student pilots. FBI brass ignores it. (Director Robert Mueller).

Several of the alleged "arabic hijackers'" addresses were listed as U.S. military installations: Maxwell AFB, Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA., Pensacola Naval Air Station.

Thanks, yes. I'm surprised about that, too. It's a very important event.

It occurred to me several years ago. It was all too "tidy". I read a great book about Afghanistan called "Ghost Wars" by Steve Coll that chronicles the events and personalities in Afghanistan from the Soviet occupation to 9/11/01. Lots of great information about Ahmad Shah Massoud (and others) in there. Then I read more, and it became clear that he undoubtedly would've been the man to build the coalitions in Afghanistan needed after the defeat of the Taliban at the hands of the U.S. military. But he was not puppet material. He was a man of principle, courage, honesty, and charisma. Not good traits to possess if you're applying for the job of an American "puppet leader". We saw a lot of this in South Vietnam, too, in the 1960s when we interfered there, not just militarily, but politically.

It's clear to me that the two highlighted events above represent a way for the perpetrators of 9/11 to ingrain into the minds of witnesses to these things that it was ARABS.

Think about this: If you were truly an arab terrorist on a secret mission in the U.S., learning to fly and living for months in this country, you would lay as low as you could. Even if you weren't interested in taking off or landing the airplane, YOU WOULDN'T SAY THAT TO THE INSTRUCTOR! That's going to raise eyebrows (as it DID!....But again, FBI brass did nothing). And same with Atta and al-Shehi at the bar in south Florida talking loud, bragging, throwing money around, drinking alcohol, claiming to be pilots for American Airlines (which is the airplane that Atta is ALLEGED to have flown into the WTC 1 -- the North Tower -- AA#11).

It was clearly a psychological operation to put into the minds of witnesses (flight instructors, and servers and cocktail waitresses) oddities that stuck out that they would remember after 9/11, so they could verify the "official" story of 9/11 that our government put out (and with which our media obediently complied). "Oh my God! I remember that guy! He was a student of mine at flight school. I remember him saying that he only wanted to fly the plane and not take off or land. And I thought that was really weird." Of COURSE you did. That's the idea.

And regarding Operation Able Danger, Lt. Colonel Anthony Shaffer has discussed this at length and wrote a book, in part, about it. Something like 2.3 terrabytes of information were destroyed, after a lawyer high up at the Pentagon said this group investigating terrorists within the U.S. should cease and desist investigation this "Brooklyn cell". Two of the three alleged 9/11 hijackers were identified by Able Danger.

Representative Curt Weldon (R) from Pennsylvania championed cause of the members of Able Danger and brought it to light in the national spotlight.

Unfortunately, evidently Rep. Weldon didn't get the "memo", so to speak, (don't ask too many questions about Able Danger or 9/11 in general) and he was ousted from Congress in his next election, after charges were leveled against him that he had proffered employment for his son at a lobby group in D.C. The charges were complete b.s. But they served their purpose. Nosy Rep. Curt Weldon was no longer in an official position to investigate Able Danger any further.

Also President Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell were out of D.C. Bush was in Sarasota, Florida. Powell was in Lima, Peru. Powell (not a neocon, hence out of the loop) would've been the ideal person to make key decisions or at least give professional military advice on the morning of 9/11. Unfortunately, he was not in the country, so Cheney was unopposed. Also remember that Bush was urged to stay away from Washington, D.C. that morning by then-National Security Advisor Condi Rice, who was merely parroting what VP Cheney told her. Again, this left Cheney to make the calls. All very convenient.

Re: PRE-9/11 ASSASSINATION: An Overlooked and VERY Important Event in the 9/11 Chronology.

And we've had our way in Afghanistan (vis a vis their government leadership) ever since.

The OP is completely off base on why Massoud was taken out.

It was prep for 9/11 to be sure. But it was a move by al Qaeda/Taliban to weaken the opposition in Afghanistan. They did not want Massoud as a US ally against the Taliban. They knew the US would get involved militarily after the attacks. Al Qaeda has stated their goal is to involve the US in conflicts across the globe to drain our treasury and weaken us.

Massoud would have been a powerful US ally and would have led to unifying Afghanistan. The Taliban and al Qaeda used the blueprint we gave them in the 1980s to bog down the Soviet forces in an unwinnable conflict against us.

Don't forget the post-9/11 assassination of Abdul Haq.

Haq was the leader of the powerful Haqani network of Pashtuns, centered at Tora Bora, during the war against the USSR. He was one of the few Pashtun leaders opposed to the Taliban, a fan of rock and roll, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and a friend of the west.

Abdul Haq was in New York on 9/11, preparing to brief the Council on Foreign Relations on the strategic assistance that his Pashtuns could add to Massoud's Tajik and Uzbek Northern Alliance.

9/11 squelched the original plan which called for an Afghan civil war with American and Russian backing. Instead NATO invaded. Haq was flown back to Tora Bora with a suitcase full of $100 bills. His men promptly killed him and joined the Taliban. Afghans don't like invaders or those who collaborate with them.

I strongly disagree. There was no doubt the U.S. would topple the Taliban government in Afghanistan. The BIG question was: Who would "rule" afterward? And my main post explains why Ahmad Shah Massoud would've been a nightmare for American officials, but best for the people of Afghanistan.

There was never a question about if the U.S. would topple the Taliban, nor that we'd work in concert with the Northern Alliance to do so. That was inevitable and was easy to foresee.

I don't mean to be contentious, but I must point out that the reason you gave above is the "official" reason why we're told Ahmad Shah Massoud was assassinated. I'm not sure if you just read up on this topic and are parroting that point or not. To be sure, it's the competing theory, yes. But in the grand scheme of our plan for Afghanistan, the "official" explanation for Massoud's assassination is too short sighted and rudimentary.

Who would've thought American military forces would still be occupying Afghanistan 11 years after toppling the Taliban and installing our puppet, Hamid Karzai in there? I and most people wouldn't have. But I know some Machiavellian people within the shadows of our enormous federal bureaucracy and multinational corporations did and do.

Excellent post! Yes, I agree. And I believe he was murdered for the same reasons as Ahmad Shah Massoud. A great uniter of tribes; a coalition builder. And he ruffled feathers in the CIA and ISI in those later years, saying, "...we cannot be America's puppet." He was opposed to U.S. intervention in Afghanistan. Thus, he, too, had to be eliminated. Horrendous. A generation of capable, well-respected, courageous leaders, waiting in the wings to lead Afghanistan after the toppling of the Taliban, was eliminated. Again, it serves America officials' purposes most of all, imo. We wouldn't want an independent, capable charismatic leader for Afghanistan. That person could tell us to take a hike. We need an easily molded puppet like Hamid Karzai, the dress-up "king".

interesting stuff but i don't believe it because it's just too perfect. Sounds more like a novel than the way things unfold in real life. Unless you are talking about some kind of alternate reality, that's the only way i see info making sense.

Omg - how incredibly ignorant you must be, don't you investigate things at ALL? There must be dozens of totally inexplicable facts, and even more videos disclosing them.
I mean what Possible explanation could their be for tonnes of MOLTEN steel under the rubble 4-5 WEEKS later. Try to imagine for just a moment how hot it must have been to start with - keeping in mind that it's simply NOT POSSIBLE to even melt steel by burning kerosine or office furniture.

If it was just one or two things, they could be discounted...begrudgingly. But EVERYthing regarding 9/11 is like this. The coincidental timing, the way it all seemed to work out so perfectly. It's too much....FAR too much. It's circumstantial evidence for now, but it's overwhelming.

Yep, the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s files on Worldcom, Enron, etc. were housed in WTC7. Correct. And correct about that specific side of the Pentagon, too. That side had just been "renovated". Gee, I wonder who the company was who did that? Urban Moving Systems? lol And I wonder what they "accidentally" left in those walls?
