I believe the assassin was posing as a photographer/filmographer.

Another important item to consider
(my humble opinion of course) is that the same damn thing happened to the beloved opposition leader in Afghanistan, Benazir Bhutto. She was all set to dethrone the western alliance puppet when she flew back to Pakistan, was driven in an open-air tops down motorcade, only to be assassinated in front of 100's of thousands of followers. The Busheez/Dick puppet was General Pervez Musharraf, taking big billion-dollar donations to let western alliance blow the hell out of neighboring Afghanistan, and his own country-Pakistan's western border and in the mountains.

The murder of Bhutto, one of Pakistan's most famous and enduring politicians, sparked violence that killed at least nine people and plunged efforts to restore democracy to the nuclear-armed busheez/dick ally into turmoil. The assassin conveniently blew himself up, along with 20 or so others.

Bhutto was sure to win, knew she could be killed at any moment, said so on more than one occasion, traveled and spoke in the U.S. constantly, but would not be anyone's puppet. Taking that stand is often fatal.

Bhutto returned to Pakistan after a decade in exile hoping to reach a co-presidency arrangement with Musharraf, or perhaps be head of a position equal to U.S. Secretary of State clinkton, but soon after her return, she became a fierce critic to Musharaf and the ruling party, accusing Musharraf and the ISE (like U.S. CIA) of backing the militants that wanted to kill her. and that was the end of her time here on earth.
