Two S Korea nuclear reactors shut down

A South Korean official says the first malfunction happened at the Shingori reactor, near the city of Busan in the country's south.

He says there was a malfunction in the reactor's control rod, but that the reactor is stable.

The second malfunction happened two-and-a-half hours later at the Yeonggwang reactor, 260 kilometres south of Seoul.

The problem there was a low water level inside a steam generator.

South Korea operates 23 nuclear reactors, with another 16 to come on line by 2030.
