Is it just me or the Australian's here very adverse to washing the poop off of their hands?

Saying we're all made out of rotting poop is a pretty stupid argument.

Yeah I wash I hate poop fingers it doesn't turn me on in the slightest.
But don't lie about washing after every visit, I don't wash after a piss because my dick doesn't stink, and neither do girls ALL the time.

Not lying, was drilled into me as a kid to wash your hands after going to the toot so I have always done so (being a recovering OCD person I probably wouldn't be able to handle even TRYING not to-it's second nature to me)

Re: Why Don't People Wash Their Hands After Using The Bathroom?
Incredible stupidity and crassness being shown here by some. As I noted, many of us understand that the sink faucets, door knobs, etc. in public rest rooms are full of germs. We compensate for that by using a paper towel on them after we've washed our hands. But we still wash the shit off our hands. Why don't some of you?

I'd like to know if those of you who are barbarian enough to brag about not washing your hands after using a public rest room, wash up at home? Do you use your own sinks, in your own home? Just curious.

And for those of you who maintain that we are covered in waste matter, why does this mean that we shouldn't wash our hands after taking a crap? Even discarding the logical benefits of clean hands, wouldn't you simply be repulsed by having traces of shit on your hands? If touching all you must, by necessity, touch afterwards? And what about the smell? When you raise a cup of coffee or something to your lips, wouldn't you smell that fecal matter from your earlier visit to the rest room?

I'm suspecting that at least some of you are trolls here, but still it's quite disturbing to think that people are actually defending this uncivilized conduct.

Here's some advice though.
Use TP and get your shit on it. If you get some on your fingers, then wash.

They should make all public washroom doors push open, outward from inside, so you can push them open with your foot instead of touching them with freshly washed hands.

It's true though, nothing's going to happen to you from opening the movie theater bathroom door.

It's mainly food and beverage handlers that need to be vigilant in their hand washing. You wouldn't want to lose your business money because you got people sick after not washing your own poo off your fingers.

I've resolved the problem in my office by just cuting a hole in the middle of my office chair and sellotaping a carrier bag underneath. And i always pull my pants down before i sit at my desk.

That way i can easily take a dump at my desk without having to use the office bogs. The boss accepts it because it's great for productivity.

I simply wait 'till i get home to wipe my arse, and wash my hands.

...simples...

Ahhh... the art of using the public toilet and touching the least amount of contaminated surfaces possible.... hovering above the toilet seat in your best Kung Fu horse riding stance.... trying to hold your breath, or at least slow your breathing to a minimum, and then maybe even using that last piece of tissue to open the final door back to freedom!! hf

It is seriously gross though... and I do realize that we pick up germs from all the uncouth persons, even if we do wash our hands... but seriously it has to be better at least trying!

I wash my hands after I shit. Piss no. My piss is cleaner than anything else that I ingest during the day. I use sterile technique when handling door knobs and anything else. I try not to touch too much in the bathroom.

Re: Why Don't People Wash Their Hands After Using The Bathroom?
We've all heard about the study showing that some 70% of the shopping carts in grocery stores had traces of fecal matter on them. Ever since this drew my alarm, I've started noticing how few people wash their hands in public restrooms, even after taking a crap.

My daughter noticed the same thing in elementary school, as virtually every little girl-all from solid, middle class families-neglected to wash their hands, even after doing a number two. One of my bosses- a real big shot- was in the rest room at work recently when I came in. I was appalled when she exited the stall (it was obvious she'd been "busy" in there for a while) and just walked out of the rest room with a big smile, without washing her hands.

My question is; how can this be possible? Are we now living in a Third World country, where basic rules of cleanliness are not important? Weren't we all potty trained, and told at that point to wash our hands afterwards? What kind of people don't teach their kids this? More importantly, what kind of kids learn this, but then somehow decide it's better to not wash their hand after it's been wiping their butt? Are there really successful, intelligent adults who think it's okay to leave the restroom with fecal matter on their hands?

Maybe it's always been this way and I just never noticed before, but I have to believe this is more of a disturbing recent trend. Needless to say, the proliferation of fecal matter on shopping carts, on ice cubes in restaurants and other common areas represents a real public health hazard. Has anyone else noticed this? Do people even care? Were you all trained to wash your hands? Do any of you not wash your hands after bathroom visits? All comments welcomed.
 Quoting: sci fi girl

yeah it's important that people understand the low levels of handwashing around at this time (combined with high levels of sodomy) and that means you don't touch your face or open wounds/cuts unless you've thoroughly washed your hands. I always wash them when I come home from being outin 'the world'. I also eat at home, my own cooking cos I know about hand washing.

Re: Why Don't People Wash Their Hands After Using The Bathroom?
The ridiculous rationales used here to excuse not washing hands after bathroom use are perhaps even more unbelievable than the nonwashing itself.

People have learned to use paper towels to touch anything in the bathroom, including the door knob, after they wash their hands, so the "everything is dirty-germs are everywhere" mantra is about as lame as it gets. Using this logic, why would you ever wash your hands at all? Leave oil, or paint, or whatever, on your hands, because, what is the point of washing them when everything you touch is dirty?

The "we survived for centuries" without washing makes no sense. Yes, we did, and this helped produce black plagues, fevers and other childhood diseases that were only eradicated when humans invented soap and discovered that combined with water, it served an important purpose.

It's also incredible that we have intelligent people now admitting they don't wash their hands, even after taking a crap, and feeling comfortable in doing so. Where is the shame even a small child used to feel, when caught with filthy hands? Doesn't the smell bother you? Do you even bother to wash before eating?

If you have kids, what do you tell them? Just leave out any reference to hand washing? Do your kids ever ask what the bathroom sink is for? Really, people, this is basic existence 101. And why wipe after taking a dump, anyway? Isn't not wiping, or not flushing the toilet, part of the same incomprehensible line of logic?

I think this disturbing trend can be attributed primarily to the increasing laziness and general stupidity of the public. We have become an idiocracy.
 Quoting: sci fi girl

Normally I wouldn't even waste my time replying to such an asinine post, but the OP has struck a nerve and someones gotta put this retard in her place...might as well be me.

OP...you post this drivel about hand washing like its the coming apocalypse and you chide those that dont wash their hands.

How dare you insinuate that people who don't wash their hands are doing so out of laziness and stupidity! Know whats lazy and stupid? People who post threads and include ZERO FACTS TO SUPPORT THEIR CLAIMS.

However, I did the research for you and to be honest...every point you have made can be refuted with a simple Google search geared towards the Science of bacteria and virus'.

I can't attach a link, but got my info from UCLA at Berkely Biology department. The same claims are echoed by WebMD as well.

First, no health organization on the planet considers toilet seats or bathrooms to be dangerous vectors of infection. Not one.

Why? Because the biology of bacteria and viruses make transmission in a bathroom setting almost impossible.
Both organisms are highly unstable when outside the body and die almost immediately.

Hep A,B,C, Herpes, Syphillis cannot be caught under any contact with any surface as those bacteria/virus' die immediately when they touch any surface that isnt a mucous membrane.

No virus, bacteria, germ can do anything unless they are in direct contact with a mucous membrane or deep cut that isnt covered. So basically, if you aren't forming lines of feces and snorting it, you won't catch anything in a bathroom.

You also dont realize how simple Biology works. So heres a quick refresher:

You would need to come into contact with a COLONY of bacteria to have even a miniscule chance of catching anything. While bathrooms have a wide variety of different organisms/microbes they do not have enough of any ONE kind to infect a healthy person.

In fact, this website says there are far bigger places to be worried about catching a bug.

You are 10,000x more likely to catch E.Coli just walking into a store and shopping for 30 mins.

You are 100,000x more likely to catch a bug....touching your childs school books.

You are 1,000,000x more likely to catch a bug touching the telephone than anything in a bathroom.

So basically, your fears are Scientifically false. In fact, I couldnt find any news of significance regarding anyone catching anything from using a bathroom. Its folk lore.

So the next time you wanna post using conjecture along with an overly smarmy attitude towards us "lazy, stupid" people, perhaps don't be so lazy and stupid yourself.

So, you have a lump of turd on your finger, and turn on the tap to wash your hand. You clean up your hands.

You turn off the tap, and touch a turdy tap (not just yours, but everyone elses who has used the tap). You then open the door to leave the toilet, and touch a handle that someone else has touched after taking a dump and not washed their hands.

So, where was the benefit of washing your hands?
 Quoting: Cloggy Bastard 4912635

Just depends I suppose, over here a good chunk of bathrooms now have hand sensor faucets and no doors on the bathroom, just a little hallway that turns once or twice for a bit of privacy.

What really should make you worry, is the people that don't need to wash their hands because they didn't wipe...o_o
