This is nothing close to socialism. Big business and banks run this country. In socialism, they're owned by the people. We have the opposite of socialism - fascism.
The freebies handed out (and they're really not much at all, just crumbs) are nothing compared to the freebies handed out to businesses who are guaranteed their monopolies and the right to rip everyone off, start wars and take away freedom. The freebies are just enough to stave off revolution and keep things the way they are for as long as possible.

When in reality it's a totalitarian mechanism that strangles the freedom and producing power of many at the expense of an "elite" few. It's been the SAME WAY every single time in every socialist/communist shithole that has ever existed. It's the sheep being led to the slaughter with a sign that says "free lunch and haircut". Call it whatever you want, but the end result of all forms of government is statism. Karl Marx was right. The only superior way is anarchy. I view that as complete freedom, not violent chaos.
