A teacher's letter to the president
Dear Mr. President,

I have received your daily emails and phone calls – please take me off your lists.

I gave you some money in May, even though I didn’t want to – your phone volunteers are very persuasive!

I voted for you in 2008, and I will again in November.

What choice do I have? The alternative isn’t better, and probably worse overall. Though, I will vote for you reluctantly as I know your policies, and those of your Secretary of Education, like those of your predecessor, are destroying the profession I love and harming the students I teach.

This sounds like a good, honest teacher to me; I wish they were all like this. Our school system is so messed up.. Seems like everything the government gets their hands on gets worse.

Re: A teacher's letter to the president
I wonder if teachers complain more today because kids aren't the same. Many kids do not have the respect and are out of control because of the lack of parenting. Couple that in with the demands and pressures of teaching children X.Y, and Z or lose your job, I might get a little cranky and bitch too. I also have family and friends who are teachers and a principal and the only time I really hear them complain is because of a child or parents behavior or ignorance,
I think this guys letter hit the problem dead on.. education starts at home and if that home is not stable, it shows in a child's performance. I think teachers would stop demanding for more IF so many kids were not in dire home situations. Tax dollars should not be dumped into high tech programs and making sure every child has a tablet, especially when that child does not have food in her belly or a roof over her head.
