Tactical Shotgun or AR-15? | |
Patrick Bateman User ID: 24835255 United States 10/03/2012 07:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I still fail to see how an AR-15 or any rife would benefit anyone in CQC over the Tactical Shotty. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24854327 Has anyone see the super shorty? Go to google images and type in "super shorty". There is no better way to conceal a shotty and have massive power. Makes the desert eagle look like bubble gum change. Not many ways in cqc, but against vests is one. I know I already said this, but I would get the AR (556) and then get a used double barrel 12 gauge for cq. Saw the fucker off a little if you are going to be real close, and add a pistol grip to it. Or just get a kimber for cqc. Nicest hand guns ever made. [link to www.kimberamerica.com] |

Quoting: Gunner 24854327 ShotGun: Red Dot sight, 18in Barrel and 28In Barrel (spare). or AR-15: Red Dot Sight, 16in Barrel What do you guys prefer? Personally I would go with the shotgun because: More stopping power. Interchangable Barrels. IE: 18in for Security and 26in for hunting. Different rounds (ie: Sabot,Slugs, Exotic Ammo, 00Buck, birshot, ect..) If you had to choose one or the other, what would it be and why? If I lived in the U.S. I'd buy both. |

You wont have time to keep it spotless clean and sing it a bed time story to keep it working properly. For the price buy an AK and and a Mossburg 500 with extended tube. The Mossburg passed the military 10,000 round no fail test with no cleaning and the AK was made for any able person to shoot with little to no care. You can throw them in the dirt, drag them behind a truck pick it up and still shoot it. |

If you're new to the firing range get the shotgun otherwise if you have tons of money to blow on rounds and good target practice go with the ar-15 and hope it doesn't jam. Quoting: flashlight That should be enough data for you to mine. What would you personally get? (assuming you don't have either one already). The shotgun. .223 rounds are too much for my pocketbook. Anonymous Coward User ID: 23797551 United States 10/03/2012 11:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you go tactical shotgun the only choice is SAIGA 12. If not go with the AR. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2679163 Amen. I am well versed in weaponry of all sorts. If the shtf, and has a chance of quickly coming back together, you don't want to be shooting people 200-300 meters away...try explaining that urgent need to LE. At first problems will arise in CQB situations and having a high capacity 12 gauge (20 round drum) that is as powerful as class 3 USAS destructive devices is a formidable weapon. Later if needed you can acquire or trade for an AR. Appearance is almost as powerful as the weapon itself. They look mean. Yeah, but for a person just picking up skills, I would go pump. Saiga shotguns are great once they are tuned for the gas plug adjustment. Can be finicky on ammo otherwise and present a weapons failure situation with someone not familiar beforehand. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14443159 United States 10/03/2012 11:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 12 gauge all the way. With AR 15 you need an entire clip to kill an intruder (when it doesn't jam). With a shotty you end the battle in one shot. When SHTF you are not gonna sit on your roof top hoping to snipe someone, you stay low and only pull the trigger when you are sure the other guy is here to harm you. no need for red dot sight, just ghost ring sight. red dot is slow to aim and needs battery to operate. |
MRoot User ID: 24904588 United States 10/03/2012 11:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes. For all the reasons outlined above and more. Both. You also need a handgun. Absolutely. Your handgun gets you time. You will always need time. Even if it is merely seconds. Seconds count. Put the range time in. Establish the muscle memory. Use both eyes. Buy ammo, eat less. Feed your head. Store your bread. Heed the motto below, " Betimes must rise,..." Get to it,..Storms rising,...
