dream about snakes

I don't know how to get an answer to thios but here goes. I dreamed my brother and another man maybe my son was with me and there were copperheads in our yard they were big with heads like cobras and my brother would catch one and let it bite itsself to kill it. I saw them jumpoing from top of a doorway across to somewhere then they had one and let it go and said they had enough for one day. When I woke up I looked toward my bedroom doorway and saw the shape of a man standing there shifting from one foot to the other, I turned to my nightystand and got my gun, I live alone hubby works on a barge line, and I turned back around and it was gone. This was at 5 am so I got up and checked out my trailor. what does that mean does anyone know
