Turkey Green-Lights Military Action... Right now, we need to honor our commitments. They were good enough to join NATO, and NATO needs to be good enough to back them up. We can all reshuffle later, but now is not the time. An ally has been attacked. Are u fecking drunk? Turkey has been waging the most cowardly of wars against Syria for almost a year now. I bear no hatred for the Turkish people, but the damage, the tremendous loss of Syrian life etc etc has to be accounted for. NATO has no business interfering here. Turkey has been the prime instigator all along. well my friend being a Turkish citizen i agree with you, we do not want to fight zionist bankers war with NWO agenda To know means to know all. Not to know all means not to know. In order to know all, it is only necessary to know a little. But, in order to know this little, it is first necessary to know pretty much. G.I. Gurdjieff |

Turkey Green-Lights Military Action... When shit is hitting the fan, there's no time for links when it comes to condemnation from leaders. It's not like I was quoting someone saying "we're about to nuke Syria." Come on! Quoting: DL let's try that again.. That's exactly the time to follow protocol in times of fast moving events. This thread has been very sloppy in that regard. I am still skeptical that Turkey (govt) and Syrian (govt) are on the verge of anything serious. But specifically, alarming "rumors" of air base bombings, chemical weapons threats, and NATO "emergency" meetings and, yes, the interference of other countries leaders need to be cited and corroborated, to be especially sure. It's your thread so moderate it, dont make excuses... I've been looking into what other posters in this thread have been saying. If they don't mention those tweets about chemical weapons, ect., how am I supposed to research and see if it's legit? I welcome all the bullshit, but they better make it look like it's just a tweet and not 100% confirmed news. I personally am not doing that; I'm more worried about finding new information than I am moderating and deleting posts in my thread. Last Edited by DL on 10/03/2012 04:39 PM |

Turkey Green-Lights Military Action... Could someone please let Turkey know that they are still member of NATO... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24851697 If they are attacked, we are at war. Turkey is kinda quasi-Nato. I've heard them say before that they wouldn't attack another Muslim country if they disagreed with the War. Frankly I don't know why Turkey was allowed in NATO as most of the wars NATO will be fighting will be against Muslim countries. NATO needed the manpower though because Europe's military's are getting smaller and crapper every day. Turkey can field as many troops as France and Germany combined right now. Pretty sad that the West is now dependent on Turkey because the Euro countries would rather spend their money on communist programs that take care of Muslims and their dozen kids. After all NATO stands for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Turkey isn't exactly the North Atlantic. Frankly I think it's time for a new treaty. I know many will disagree with me on this but I think it's time for the USA to reach out to the Russians. They are only still our enemy because we consider them our enemy. In reality both Nations face similar problems and threats. Islam is #1. China is close behind. China may not be a huge threat to Russia now but keep in mind that an overpopulated China sits right below a barren Russia. When China does choose to expand Eastern Russia will be ideal. Anyway currently in NATO the USA is providing the bulk of everything. Europe cuts more and more in defense every year because they know the USA has it's back. It's bullshit frankly. Countries like Luxemberg and Bulgaria are in NATO. They provide almost nothing except a few troops and their air space and gain the protection of the large countries. The new alliance should center around USA, UK, Russia, Germany (If they kick up their defense spending to ~2% of GDP). I'd make 2% of GDP a requirement for defense spending. Currently the only countries doing that are the USA, UK and Greece believe it or not. Oh yeah screw France. Last time we allied with them we liberated their country, gave them a huge say in the post-war enviornment, and those frog bastards kicked NATO out of France because they wanted more power. We should of let the Brits annex France like the USSR did to the countries they occupied. France can't be counted on as an ally even if they do have a decent military. A friend who isn't loyal is no friend at all. BS ... I guess you are a little young to remember, I suggest you do some reading about why Turkey is in NATO: 1) Take a map and look where Turkey is. Think about why bosphorus and dardanelles are stratigic straits. And consoder all these again from a USSR context. 2) Read about Turkish involvment in korea ..etc. 3) Learn why cuban missile crises started. Hint, check this picture: [link to 4.bp.blogspot.com] 4) Learn that Turkey is actually the second largest army and 3th biggest user of f-16 worldwide 5) Again take a map and consider Turkeys geopolitical position in todays context. The list can be taken further ... |

Turkey Green-Lights Military Action... North Atlantic Council statement on developments on the Turkish-Syrian border Quoting: DL [link to www.nato.int] As stated on 26 June 20l2, the Alliance continues to closely follow the situation in Syria. In view of the Syrian regime’s recent aggressive acts at NATO’s southeastern border, which are a flagrant breach of international law and a clear and present danger to the security of one of its Allies, the North Atlantic Council met today, within the framework of Article 4 of the Washington Treaty, and discussed the continuous shelling of locations in Turkey adjacent to the Turkish-Syrian border by the Syrian regime forces. The most recent shelling on 3 October 20l2, which caused the death of five Turkish citizens and injured many, constitutes a cause of greatest concern for, and is strongly condemned by, all Allies. In the spirit of indivisibility of security and solidarity deriving from the Washington Treaty, the Alliance continues to stand by Turkey and demands the immediate cessation of such aggressive acts against an Ally, and urges the Syrian regime to put an end to flagrant violations of international law. I havent heard "NATO allies" specifically condemn or blame the Syria govt. Not saying they wont, but the wording of this memo is startling: It seems NATO is now a soveriegn entity with "southeastern borders", to whom its vassal members must comply. |
