cool down in Turkish-Syria border.

Turkey continued shelling Syria because they kept sending reinforcements to the area responsible for Turkish civilian deaths. If Syria continues to send bodies to that area, I'd imagine Turkey will keep lobbing shells, IMO.

reinforcements or possible rescue personal to treat the wounded and evac them ??? maybe ?

The smart for them to do is to send just medical types there. They don't use the Red Cross for marking them, but they could use the Red Crescent I think.

Above all, Let the Turks know they aren't doing anything to provoke Turkey. If they goof it up it could be bad

No, not everyone on the planet has a stake in what happens on the Syria/Turkish border. But I'll exchange an idea with you, hopefully you'll learn. Your stake as an American is your armament industry that adds to your GDP.

And that is why, I suppose, it's fun to play make believe, that the battle still rages, that Turkey is clearing out with artillery a NATO "buffer zone" blasting all inside, even if it's "reinforcements" to gather the dead and wounded; and to pretend that if Syria wants to enter inside their own territory they should tip toe lightly, waving the Red Crescent, so that if Turkey isnt too upset they'll allow it.

I'd say such a fictional discourse is a bit psychotic, wouldnt you?

Wait a minute! What is the fable? There was a stray mortar round that killed 5 women and children. There were protests in Turkey. Turkish artillery fired back for two days. Turkey called for an Article 4 NATO meeting. There was another round that landed in Turkey today.
There are protests pro war/antiwar happening because of this.
Their parliament has authorized the military to act outside of the border. The bill that was passed was to show whomever been firing into Turkey to stop it.
If you think for minute that Turkey will not go after them? Ask the PPK in Iraq. There were/are joint Kurdish/Turkish patrols to root those guys in Iraq. They have even snubbed the Iraqi government on that as we did.
My suggestion to use a truce symbol of some sort in order to collect casualties is sort of common sense and international law. Hopefully there are diplomats working out that issue as we speak. There seems to be good will there. They just need to let it work out. NATO and Russia both are calling fro everyone to show restraint.
Saying all of that the Turkish PM has said it's not his intention to go to war, but that Turkey will defend its borders and citizens. On a side note, there are minority parties in Turkey that trying to solve the Kurdish using the British/IRA and Spain/Basque examples.
So no war yet and with God's help cooler heads will prevail.

IF Turkey were to do something my guess would be they would just set a 10 KM zone. They are already asking people to evac from the border region. A few people complaining about that on the twittersphere

dschis1000,

There is no buffer zone, there is no flags being waved to enter a no mans land. And there would be no justification for Turkey or Syria expanding their jurisdiction to the other side of the border. That being said, I realize that you have a tendency to say women and children have been killed so Turkey has a right to do so. Fine, that is an opinion I dont share since Turkey is guilty of harboring the insurgents, the insurgents themselves may have done this, and a conspiracy may be afoot to create a pretext for the very fable these people are discussing. But the bizarre thing is when people pretend the contingency plan of NATO is already a reality when it isnt, and so they spin a fantastic story down to the minute details of how Turkey and Syria should organize the logistics of this non reality.

Syria denies apologising to Turkey over cross-border incident
Syria has clarified that it condoled the deaths of innocent civilians in Wednesday’s cross-border mortar fire incident but had not apologised to Turkey as it was yet to ascertain the identity of those who had carried out the attack.

Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Security Council Bashar Al-Jafari told the El-Nashra website on Thursday that the Syrian government had not send any apology letter to the Turkish government.
