My text is older than yours :)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15610509

I'm not referring to any particular text. though I probably know of older texts (ideologies) than you do. old. very, very old. from the dawn of time. unless you're one of the 1% that isn't just a stupid hack satan-dabbler. like any of the other respondents. anybody who says "Satan is..." "Lucifer is..." does not know what they are talking about.

Re: What do you think about Lucifer?
Is Lucifer Promethius?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24895951

For Luciferians, definitely. The German mystic gnostic cults most definitely too. I'm not entirely sure this was the original intent. There is a chain of thought that goes from the The Monks on the Ridge in Pennsylvania, back to Germany, and all around Europe to St. Albertus Magnus.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Magnus translated a lot of Platonic material, and may have brought the Promethean theme back into the lime light unintentionally. I honestly believe they developed independently of one another, but eventually became entangled.

Also see Paracelsus' trinity theory of matter, probably a good unconscious early reconciliation of both myths.

Lucifer is the bearer of light. Light is a metaphor for knowledge. Superstitious religions do not like enlightened people, because they do not swallow the swill. They like to keep people in the darkness of ignorance. So it is natural that they would attempt to demean and idea like Lucifer. Lucifer shines the light of knowledge into the dark corners of ignorance, where the superstitious cower in fear.

Re: What do you think about Lucifer?
first, there is no such thing as Lucifer.

second, since there has been no attempt to standardize what "Lucifer" is or represents, such as has been with the christian God and Jesus (and look how well that turned out) there are many different concepts of "Lucifer", ranging anywhere from merely another of christian theology's bitches, to a completely seperate concept; also ranging from pure good to pure evil. it is, after all, all made up.

some of the ideologies about Lucifer are quite meritorious, some are disgusting, all fall short of perfection. that is not to say that any of the Abrahamic religions are perfect either. the best of the mass-religion white-light type Luciferian ideologies are superior. however they accomodate small to mid-size cultures. they cannot be used on large nations or even a world-religion, such as christianity/judaism/islam, because they do not make allowances for the filth, wretchedness and evil that is inevitably present in mankind. that is where the Abrahamic religions surpass them in usefulness. that Luciferianism I speak of is too good, too pure. it is better suited for individuals or groups outside of society who would rather have their own ideal culture.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24896878

....(602.1) 53:1.4 Very little was heard of Lucifer on Urantia owing to the fact that he assigned his first lieutenant, Satan, to advocate his cause on your planet. Satan was a member of the same primary group of Lanonandeks but had never functioned as a System Sovereign; he entered fully into the Lucifer insurrection. The “devil” is none other than Caligastia, the deposed Planetary Prince of Urantia and a Son of the secondary order of Lanonandeks. At the time Michael was on Urantia in the flesh, Lucifer, Satan, and Caligastia were leagued together to effect the miscarriage of his bestowal mission. But they signally failed.

(602.2) 53:1.5 Abaddon was the chief of the staff of Caligastia. He followed his master into rebellion and has ever since acted as chief executive of the Urantia rebels. Beelzebub was the leader of the disloyal midway creatures who allied themselves with the forces of the traitorous Caligastia.

(602.3) 53:1.6 The dragon eventually became the symbolic representation of all these evil personages. Upon the triumph of Michael, “Gabriel came down from Salvington and bound the dragon (all the rebel leaders) for an age.” Of the Jerusem seraphic rebels it is written: “And the angels who kept not their first estate but left their own habitation, he has reserved in sure chains of darkness to the judgment of the great day.”..

Re: What do you think about Lucifer?
Lucifer is a title. Whoever is the "frontman" for evil is he that occupies this office.

THe only mention you see of "Lucifer" is in Isaiah 14. What is more significant to understand is what he is attempting to do in Isaiah 14. He is attempting to dispossess Jacob from his inheritance. Lucifer is saying "it shall be mine", looking directly at the people in verse 1 of Isaiah 14...He wants to claim something that is not his.

Isa.14
[1] For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
[2] And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16701148

Well said. However, the Hebrew word translated as "lucifer" is actually "helel" or "hilal." Written at "h' yalal" and found in the Strong's Concordance or Gesenius' Lexicon at H3213 actually means "the howl".

Other very important informations:

(609.4) 53:8.1 Lucifer and Satan freely roamed the Satania system until the completion of the bestowal mission of Michael on Urantia

. They were last on your world together during the time of their combined assault upon the Son of Man.

(611.3) 53:9.4 Satan could come to Urantia because you had no Son of standing in residence — neither Planetary Prince nor Material Son

. Machiventa Melchizedek has since been proclaimed vicegerent Planetary Prince of Urantia, and the opening of the case of Gabriel vs. Lucifer has signalized the inauguration of temporary planetary regimes on all the isolated worlds.

It is true that Satan did periodically visit Caligastia and others of the fallen princes right up to the time of the presentation of these revelations(1934), when there occurred the first hearing of Gabriel’s plea for the annihilation of the archrebels.

Satan is now unqualifiedly detained on the Jerusem prison worlds.
