But when I looked into it years ago this is the jist I got. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24921422 Some guy was in contact with an alien. That alien told him there was a disk buried halfway across the country. The alien gave him the exact location. People thought he was crazy. So he went to the spot and started digging. He dug up a highly advanced gold disk of some kind. And the religion started based on that. Whatever info they got from that disk, one thing is for sure, they are prepping for the end of the world. It's why Mormons have their underground bunkers. The alien or the disk told them to go to Utah because it would be safe. I'm sure there's more. Anyone care to add or clarify? Yes My ex husband had a good friend at work who was a life long mormon The guy lived mormonism and was a missionary in his younger years for many years. He had the 7 kids he couldn't afford so, my husband would have him over for dinner sometimes.... He described to us WHAT the mormon religion was all about one night. He knew a lot because his father was higher up in the church than many get to... He talked a lot about how they believe in aliens, other planets ...how the angels from other planets come here; the mormon higher ups are actually aliens.... it was all to much ...it was like listening to a sci fi novel at dinner. |

I don't think aliens or angels really come out of the sky. I think Jung expressed it very well--we humans come equipped with a standard set of archetypes. A very special guide comes out of the sky is an archetype. So is being sent on a special quest for a magic object. So is a special round disk--its called a mandala. This is an archetypal story--one any of us might dream--which means almost all of us will recognize it as a very plausible story--a very special and important story. Doesn't mean it really happened. Religion isn't exactly made up, but its certainly not revealed to us by angels or demons or aliens who exist apart from us. These beings are just images our minds generate--and maybe so are we. I don't think we need to worry about people with religious preoccupations about the end of the world. Religion works on a much smaller scale. It works on a human life scale. Every generation has had its prophet of doom saying the world will end real soon--they've all been wrong--it seems just human to have a conviction that its all gone so wrong it must be on the brink of a big destruction--but it hasn't happened yet. It won't happen in our lifetime either. |

Clifford Stone says there are "aliens" out there that look just like us, except they have [/some/] extra sensory abilities. Add that to Lloyd Pye's assertion that we are essentially not native to this planet, and it paints a very intriguing picture of what the truth behind human origins might be. |

linniemaloo User ID: 40800981 United States 04/17/2015 01:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am a Mormon. It's so funny to me all the myths I hear about our religion. To clarify a couple of points, Joseph Smith found the burrows golden plates not far from his home in Palmyra New York. I've been thee to the church history site. It wasn't an alien per say that came and told him where the plates were, it was an angel. I don't know that this angel even had a body of flesh. However several years before that Joseph was praying in a grove of trees about which religion was the true one. After a dark force seized him, a light came from above and two personages where there. One said this is my beloved son, hear him. It was God the Eternal Father and his son Jesus Christ. Yes we believe that there are other planets with inhabitants, but we don't know a lot more than that. The leaders are not aliens. Our church doesn't teach that there are aliens here on the Earth. However I personally do think there are. And I believe that there are UFOs. Some good and some very bad. However most Mormons are overwhelmed with that concept and so I don't talk with very many of them about those things. |

I'd rather live around those people than many others. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65776835 Statements like that do not make you sound smart. What do you believe? The mainstream theory that we all came from mud and apes? |
