So I handed down the shotgun my dad gave me to my oldest son....
...and my hippy dippy, wussy son said he "doesn't like guns, but thanks anyway pop."

Kinda hurt my feelings, because that gun's always meant a lot to me.

I'll just wait for a few more years and give it to my daughter...she's a little roughneck, and will appreciate it.

just venting..and sad how my boy turned out...thanks.

It's simple. Take him out for a long, long, long, long, long, long drive way out to the woods. Leave him out there. Come back the next day with the shotgun and hand it to him wordlessly.

He will be very grateful for it.

Give him a few weeks out there with the shotgun and a good knife then. The problem is kids these days never have to survive. I have the unique advantage of having had to survive and know when I have it good.

Kids these days are all the fat kid crying at summer camp.

How old is he?

Last weekend I gave my son his granddads 38 and he was very happy to get it. BTW my son is 20

He's such a mama's boy, my wife would probably leave me for doing such a thing. But you're right, he needs a good wake-up call...maybe a camping trip this weekend, but this time we won't bring the RV...just a tent and a backpack of essentials.

thanks thumbs

Make it a routine thing and he'll harden up. Drag him out there. He'll resist at first but eventually he'll like it.

Relax OP. There may be hope for him yet.

Youth has a way of making us Liberals, especially if we have been well cared for, because we believe that the world should be fair.

Age or a hard youth makes us conservative, because we have worked for something that we want to hold on to and we realize that the only thing fair about life is the none of us get's out alive.

But in the meantime, give your daughter the gun and teach her to shoot. Your son may have to learn the hard way.

You could start trying being proud of your son you fucking loser. "Leave the RV", gee, I wonder..

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Your girl is a little roughneck because girls in general are more responsible, maybe she sees a lack of manhood in the home so she's stepping up. She isn't following in your footsteps, rather, following what you wish you had been as a child. Your wife probably wants to as well, but, she's old enough to know to be complacent to avoid argument.

"My son thinks differently than I do I must have failed ;'("

OP Grow up. Be proud you raised a son with the ability to question authority (you) and try to understand his thinking rather then challenge it.

You do this and you will have a healthier relationship with him and might meet some common ground where both of you can learn something.

Or don't and pressure him with your ideology until he radicalizes to the polar opposite of everything you stand for just to spite his piece of shit over bearing dad.

You don't have to like your choices but these are them and you are the one who will have to deal with which ever you choose.

Sounds like your son is evolved and you're par for the course. Believe me, he's probably disappointed in how his dad turned out as well. He just hasn't told you yet. Just wait...

Right on your death-bed, he'll look you in the eyes just as you're getting ready to pass, and then...HE'LL TELL YOU ALL OF YOUR FAILURES. That way you take them to your next life so you'll have something to WORK ON. wink

It's simple. Take him out for a long, long, long, long, long, long drive way out to the woods. Leave him out there. Come back the next day with the shotgun and hand it to him wordlessly.

He will be very grateful for it.

I recommend you get him into a into the hardest core karate dojo you can find.

I was a bad kid at age 13 when I started, differently bad then your kid. My pop made the wise choice to sub-contract his beatings to a traditional karate-master and former marine corps DI. When I started I was the only 'youth' in an adult class with mostly brown and black-belts and I got my ass beat-down every night for a long time. I ended up doing continuously for about 8 years and it made me into the MAN I am today.

He may turn around later on. My husband never disliked guns really, but wasn't especially into hunting etc. You'd never know that now.

The camping trip idea sounds like a good one though.
