Chiropractic any risks?
Anybody have experience about chiropractic therapy?

Are there any risks or side effects?

I just had the 4the session, and I am seriously wondering

Chiropractic patients show up quite frequently in the emergency department after being chiropractically treated with complications leading to stroke. Just reporting from personal experience by working in the E.D.

Proceed cautiously.

Re: Chiropractic any risks?
In my experience you have to find a good one, which may or may not be easy.

If they want to schedule you for 5+ visits on your first visit, I'd go somewhere else. If it's truly something that a chiropractor can help, it shouldn't take a multitude of tries to fix it.

I have one that I go to whenever I have back issues - to the extent I can hardly straighten up at times. A few minutes with the chiropractor and I am good as new.

My problems are mainly with the back, so it's the back they work on, but there is usually some neck loosening as well. I've never had any problems and would be lost without mine.

Good luck finding a good one. The others are just there to take your money and keep you coming back.

One other thought - mine has even said to me that if all their patients would do yoga, they'd be out of business. Stretching people! It's been helping me and I've been going less often.

Food for thought

I found a great one. Depends on the training. Some are useless. MN. School is putting out the best. Acupuncture trained is good.

Maximized living chiropracters are the best.

I've had only one bad experience with one & I fired him.

Your body can't function properly unless your spinal cord is in alignment because the nerve signals go from the brain, to the spinal cord & then out. If there is a cut off of that nerve communication, then the body begins to break down.

Not true at all. It depends on the person's affliction. Many problems that chiropracters can help require multiple vistis.

A good analogy would be braces on teeth. If you just moved them instantly to their proper place, they would go back to where they were. The same is true for vertabrea. Years of being out of place cause muscles to become mishaped and changed. By adgusting the bones go back into alignment, but the muscles will often quickly pull them back out. But over time and with proper treatment, they can often be fixed and proper alignment can be attained.

But at the same time, some chirpractors do schedule wayyy too many appointments that are not always necesary. Like someone else said, you must find a good one, depending on your condition. Some problems can be fixed with one or two visits, others with lots.

From a pre-med student who has done interships with a several chiropractors.

Very true, when you spine is in proper alignment, your enire body works better due to an improved central nerbous system.

Your immune system will improve, circulatory system will improve, general health will be increased on so many levels.

The contents in that link are really scary, I think I will need a lot of persuading and encouragement to re-visit.

Thanks a lot

Re: Chiropractic any risks?
Sorry OP, but actual experiences from real patients, I feel trumps any other advice.

As many patients are turning to this sort of treatment due to lack of insurance or whatever, these sorts of chiropractic conundrums are increasing.

I hope you feel better.

Risks? Yes, the financial cost of 48 visits to fix your sore back.
