pink cat User ID: 24948523 United States 10/04/2012 04:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | wow [link to en.wikipedia.org] Posse Comitatus Act The Posse Comitatus Act is the United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) that was passed on June 18, 1878, after the end of Reconstruction. Its intent (in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807) was to limit the powers of local governments and law enforcement agencies in using federal military personnel to enforce the laws of the land. Contrary to popular belief, the Act does not prohibit members of the Army from exercising state law enforcement, police, or peace officer powers that maintain "law and order"; it simply requires that any authority to do so must exist with the United States Constitution or Act of Congress.[citation needed] ???? somebody should help wikipedia update that there. that seems like a pretty huge thing to declare with no citation at all. the law should be clear. Also, really, a fucking college football game. As a UGA fan and alum, I have been to tons of UGA/USC game and have never seen anything that would warrant this. Granted, the teams are rated #5 and #6, but still I dont see a riot if one side loses. But, there is a big military base in Columbia. So, I will just chalk this down as practice for the shitty future we will undoubtedly experience if TPTB are forwarding their agenda. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24723935 As part of the expanding effort to merge police and military operations – and make Posse Comitatus irrelevant – police in Columbia, South Carolina, will use military police to control revelers after a football game this weekend. “Columbia police are preparing for the big crowds expected after the Georgia-South Carolina football game Saturday night,” WISTV reports. “Officials say campus police, Richland County sheriff’s deputies, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Fort Jackson’s military police will help with crowd control after the game.” In addition to the military, officialdom in Columbia plan to establish Fourth Amendment busting DUI checkpoints, barricades, and an observation tower “to keep the crowd under control” and “ensure order.”.......... [link to truthiscontagious.com] People in South Carolina should all start open carrying. here needs to be a counter balance to this bullshit. |

Use a yellow high-liter to show them the important parts. Print off the relevent Supreme Court cases dealing with this subject. Educate yourself, in detail, and make sure that everyone involved gets the facts straight. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage.
