Bacterium that Produces Pure Gold
Gold is now being sold at one of its highest rates in years. Wouldn't it be nice if you could figure out a way to make your own gold? Two professors at Michigan State University may have beaten you to it. They have discovered a way to use bacteria to make 99.9% pure gold.
Kazem Kashefi, an assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics, and Adam Brown, an associate professor of electronic art and intermedia, created a compact laboratory to conduct their experiment. Brown and Kashefi made the gold by combining the bacterium, Cupriavidus metallidurans, and gold chloride. Gold chloride has no real value and is a toxic chemical liquid found in nature. Once it's added to the bacteria, the bacteria ingest all of the liquid's toxins and waste. Then, over the course of a week, the toxic substance becomes a solid 24-karat gold nugget. There's no word yet on the actual value of the gold that's created in the lab. The researchers believe the magic they created in their compact factory happens in nature all the time without human interference.

Yet somehow the Annunaki master race couldn't figure this one out.

Re: Bacterium that Produces Pure Gold
I hate to say this.....

But this is Assinine

If you already have Gold Chloride....you have gold.

You can reduce gold salts rather easily to obtain pure gold.

About the only value I see in this is if your Gold Chloride solution is very dilute and mixed in with alot of other crap that these bacteria ignore.

Then it might be profitable to extract very dilute gold chloride solutions.

Of course, I can imagine; since gold chloride doesn't exist in nature why you would get this compound.

Correct me if I'm wrong ?

Are people using Nitric and Hydrochloric acids to "digest" serious amounts of other metals that just might happen to have gold in them ?

Also......does this bacteria pose a health hazard to humans...if so..I'd rather just precipate Gold Chloride the standard way.

This is as amazing as taking wood chips and making particle board out of it...

Re: Bacterium that Produces Pure Gold
Gold Chloride is a pair gold particles held together with chlorine.

The value of the gold is still there.

Actually during WWII some Nobel Peace medallions that were made of gold were dissolved in aqua regia and became Gold Chloride.

They hid the gold in bottles of solution and stored them in the open with other chemicals.

Later they precipitated all the gold out and re smelted and struck it into the medallions again.

Gold is Gold.

The value of the gold nugget made in the lab is the same as a nugget found in a stream.

The duo calls the odd mashup of biotechnology, art and alchemy "The Great Work of the Metal Lover." In a statement, Professor Brown explains:

"This is neo-alchemy. Every part, every detail of the project is a cross between modern microbiology and alchemy… Science tries to explain the phenomenological world. As an artist, I'm trying to create a phenomenon. Art has the ability to push scientific inquiry."

There is a pic of some of the bacteria transmutated gold at this link.

Now if you can teach the bacteria to make gold without gold chloride then you may have something...

Re: Bacterium that Produces Pure Gold
problem is still the same as all the other ways of producing gold, it's cost is between tens of thousands and tens of millions of times higher than gold value produced.

the 'gold nuggets ' produced require electron microscopes to identify their presence.
