It took her a little while to figure out what foods to NOT eat...Now she doesn't have to take the prilosec anymore and isn't having symptoms either. There is another medication over the counter that is cheaper than prilosec, but I cannot for the life of me remember what the name of it was. I think it was ommeprozal(I'm sure not spelled correctly), but it worked just as good at about half the cost. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 12042051 United States 10/04/2012 04:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used to, and I used Prilosec. It works well. Quoting: ntlatp However, when I stopped drinking any kind of soda, the GERD stopped immediately. If I don't have to take meds, I won't. It was just a simple change in diet/liquids. Thank you, I'll try that. I was only told to stop all caffeine, but I don't want to give up chocolate! |
queenbee User ID: 1562977 United States 10/04/2012 04:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 1. some people's stomach's are actually kind of shifted up to high because of coughing or throwing up. to make sure this isn't you, a few days in a row, and every month afterward... first thing in the morning drink a glass of water. go over to the stairway and drop your heels abruptly a few times. 2. some people have reduced stomach acid. i know this sounds backwards, but it could be you. there is a baking soda burp test to see if it is you and what you will need to take is betaine hcl for a while until you pass the test. google it. 3. many people have dairy or gluten intolerences (or soy). the only way to know if this is you is to drop these foods and see if you feel better. no other test works as well. 4. take lots of beneficial bacteria and eat lots of fermented foods like yogurt. when my son was little he threw up alot, and we struggled with gerd. i really think it was the full fat organic cream topped yogurt that finally fixed him. hth, and your welcome! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1976623 United States 10/04/2012 04:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read this also. It has to be organic. I'm trying to find a place that sells it. Look for "Bragg" . That's the brand. Very common. Most supermarkets have it. 2 tablespoons in a glass of water. Add some organic honey for taste if you like. This stuff works! I shit u not. Good luck! |

Must be the minerals/crud in it. Use bottled water, or buy one of those Britta filters. That helped me too. |
