Motorcycle or truck?
Just curious, need to get some wheels on payday, the gf has been riding my back that I need a car or truck (my last one blew up a few weeks ago) Do I go with a bid on a truck, or get a motorcycle...it is becoming winter soon, live up north, not good biking weather, but that means they will sell cheap, plus get excellent gas mileage, cons are I cant drive my son around, and will be winter soon..With a truck, I face gas shortage issues, which we are already atarting to see the effects of...

Re: Motorcycle or truck?
Get something old with a carburetor and points.
Then you can buy a second carb and have it jetted 10% over for alcohol.
Build a FEMA type wood gassifier, build a Still.
Then you have possibility to either run alcohol or woodgas for fuel if there ever is a gas shortage.

Hippie

OP, get a motorcycle and a truck...you can put the MC in the bed and if you ever break down you can hop on it and get home :)

I hear those new Chevy Volts are really cool.

As long as you don't have to drive more than 10 feet to get to work, anyway.

Re: Motorcycle or truck?
Best truck I ever had was a little Nissan 81', 4 cylinder, it had a second set of plugs, easy to set points,etc.. and averaged 26 around town and 28 hwy. Great engines, often last over 200,000 miles. Easy to work on, lots of room to get to everything, and parts are affordable.

Best deal on a bike is to get one that has been sitting in someone's garage for a few yrs. Often someone buys a mid-size bike and then never has the nerve to ride it. They park it and leave the gas in it. Which makes a shellac and clogs the carb. A simple flush-out and you have a good cheap bike.

Bikes are awful in the rain, very hard to see without windshield wipers!!!,,, and are dangerous on ice, or on snow.

If you use the silicon windshield stuff on a full shield helmet, it does help..But it is rather miserable it ride in the rain.

I love bikes, but would not recommend them for winter weather in Northern climates, just not smart or very safe.

You should probably get something that accommodates your boy.
