Do i think trophy hunting is cool? No. Do i hunt for meat and the thrill of the hunt as well? Yes. Does hunting play a part in balancing the ecosystem? Yes. Do the wardens manage the wildlife correctly? Yes. Is black bear, deer, sheep, or any other game mammal going extinct anytime soon in America? No. Would game mammals populations explode and tip the balance of the ecosystem without hunting in America? Yes.

The bold part is what this thread is about, an 11-year old girl who had shot a black bear just cos it was her dying wish..

Vermont has one of the highest Black Bear densities in the lower 48, and the population is steadily rising...

Due to crowding and a wet year, nuisance bear encounters are up, and bears are moving into urban and suburban areas where they have not existed since Europeans came here and shot them all...

Black Bears are opportunistic, and adaptive, and due to lower rates of hunters their populations will continue grow, and their ranges will expand...

Whining about a dying little girl legally shooting one from a continent away only makes these people look like the uneducated idiots that they clearly are...

Oh dear some of the cities in America are overcrowded - are you going to shoot the people to keep the population down? Due to crowding in the high school I think I will go shoot up the school that should help!! Doh.

I am not worried about my island - we have a much much lower crime rate that the US check your murder rate - your statistics your country it doesn't affect me very unlikely to get shot in Europe than in America - I can see you don't really care about your country either though the rate of killing doesn't appear to bother you at all. I've seen animals get shot and most of them do not die 'suddenly' or quickly as most shooters do not accurately place a heart shot. I am sure this 300+ bear suffered alot before he finally died. It's a shame that she can't see that - all she sees is a hunk of meat and a trophy head but it's all she knows. Obviously brought up in a household with lots of trophies on the wall. Most 11 year olds wouldn't want to see the life go out of an animal's eyes. What ever happened to just going to Disneyworld?

A well respected American recently commented on the high gun crime rate in America compared to European countries, he actually showed the statistics but of course he would be wrong and you would ignore him. You just go ahead and shoot anything that moves no matter how beautiful and I will go along with my dreams in life which don't include the need to kill. We come from very different cultures which agree on some things but thankfully have different values and attitudes on others.

I don't think any amount of killing afgans will actually change the way they think. Perhaps talking as with the IRA terrorists might be a long term solution?
