Many years ago, something similar happened to my mother....

Police came to check on her after her phone had dialled 112 (European emergency number)

When I checked out her phone, it turned out that........
Her telephone wire ran under the carpet, just inside a doorway, and over time the wire got worn from being walked on.
Her dog used to stand at that door, kinda 'dancing' or 'tapping' his front feet, when he wanted to be out.
At the time, in UK, you could dial phone numbers by tapping the hang-up button.
He had been making the bared wires touch, randomly 'tapping out' numbers, and he must have eventually hit on '112'
