I am pretty sure that only about 47% of the population of the US is employed
I think the BLS data said 110 million were employed
even taking out children, disabled and elderly
there are far more than 7.8% unemployed

I don't think America has had as many mentally retarded people as they do now though. GLP has about 65! 65% would be closer to the real number. I think the real numbers are around 30-35%. Definitely!
