I have been visiting this forum now for a few weeks, and just joined tonight after reading this topic. I lost my job a month ago, so this is personal for me. No one has brought this up yet, so I thought I'd share my two cents. One of the reasons our government's calculations on the unemployed looks like it has gone down is due to the thousands of unemployed who lost the emergency extended benefits. They are now off the radar. We can expect this to continue through December, when the program finally ends in all states. I wonder if anyone knows approximately how many people have been affected so far and how many more through the end of 2012. I can only imagine the number and the impact it has made on the unemployment numbers the media is reporting today.
