Since you are obviously using a computer you haven't given up the use of the fruits of science. You are using the products of science to attack science.

LMAO son. Western science simply would not exist without the societal bedrock that is Christianity. Sigh.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24924823

History is the story of science and rational thoughts struggle against the religous superstition and oppression. It's only in the last few hundred years that science has been consistently winning that battle. There are still a lot of throwbacks like the congressman and you who haven't accepted rational thought though.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25054702

Let us all agree, people like you with a just a grammar or high school education or MTV indoctrination understanding of History and Science should not be allowed to write on the Internet? It would make the world so much better!

And the guy believes that the Earth is 9000 years old...

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20610884

kitty Actually it's about 6,000 years old.

The Earth is 6,000 Years Old.

It's a sad thing that many Christians have an appalling lack of biblical understanding, that at times enables our enemies to run rings around us. To take one example: You often see or read of mockers in the media saying words to the effect that: "The bible is inaccurate because it says that the earth is only 6,000 years old."

But the bible also says...2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

You can easily work out for yourself that if you multiply 360 days (lunar years) x 6,000 x 1,000 that you get a figure of well over 2 billion years. Which also leaves plenty of room for quite a few 1,000 year periods to pass as single days.

No doubt some carping evolutionist will start whingeing that "the bible is still inaccurate because the earth is 6 billion (or whatever) years old. And I've got two good answers to that one.

Firstly: Just because you have blind faith in (a) the inherent accuracy of their scientific instruments. (b) The true scientific integrity of those doing the laboratory work. (c) That they cannot be fooled by false readings and/or assumptions. Pleeeeeeeeze do not expect me to take your shaky assumptions at face value. I know for a fact that false science is being used to bamboozle everyone into believing what they say about 'global warming', so why should I give you the benefit of the doubt.

Secondly: Try and explain this one away. We are told in the story of creation that the earth was formed from the small stuff that was left over after the creation of the universe. Therefore it should be quite reasonable to expect that for instance one group of about 500 million cubic miles of rock that outcrops on the earth's surface is perhaps 6 billion or so years old. Another outcrop of perhaps 200 million cubic miles could be 3 or 4 billion years old. And so on.

To sum up. If the material that was used to make the earth was in existence before the earth was formed, then obviously it is older than the earth.

So if in the future you hear some idiot spouting off about "the bible being inaccurate because it says that the earth is only 6,000 years old," you can correct them.

Besides, he's right. Evolution is an antiquated idea that became dogma before the field of genetics existed.

We don't see any kind of genetic mutations that account for darwinian evolution. It's more of a religion now than anything.

There is plenty of scientific dissent now against Evolution that is being actively censored.

Educate yourself... plenty of links in this thread.

I consider myself an intelligent Christian. There is simply too much scientific evidence supporting evolution to ignore it. And yet, I cannot, as a person of faith, accept the premise that God removed himself from the evolutionary process entirely. I think there should be room in science for theistic evolutionists, but all this young earth creationism nonsense is nothing more than pseudo-scientific gymnastics. The opening chapters of the Bible are wonderful poetry, but not a textbook science account.

We don't see any kind of genetic mutations that account for darwinian evolution.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20610884

So you believe DNA copies itself without errors? Damn! then why aren't all sons of Adam and Eve exact clones of one another? Stupid, stupid!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23223519

When did I say that? Yes DNA replication has a very tiny margin of error which can result in random mutations.

#1 All beneficial mutations we have observed have resulted in a loss of function in the organism, or a modification of a function that already exists (increasing/decreasing enzyme production for example)

What we don't see, even in thousands of generations of bacteria, is any beneficial mutation that increases complexity / adds new function.

It simply isn't happening.

Remember, Darwinian Evolution became sealed as official dogma BEFORE modern genetics. They have no choice but to keep it propped up as a scientific truth.

Oh yea, not a shred of fossil evidence of any major morphologies/body plans coming into being.

Evolution is a failed theory.

You might want to honestly ask yourself why you believe it.

Re: Congressman on science committee : evolution and big bang theory : lies from pits of hell
I believe in cataclysms, As God also describe in the Bible, that "... whereas the Earth of old was under water and above water, ... they want to believe a lie that the Earth was the same from old as it is now".
God has created and recreated the Earth many times in cycles from the beginning which, as the Science says is 4.5 B.Y. ago. God gave us science also, the knowledge of His Creation, which He spoke into existence. The creation is thus also His word, OK.
We have to combine different parts of His Word to find the truth. The Bible is His written Word, while nature is His Word created. And Science He gave us to study His Word Created.
THe age of 6000 years is only the last cycle, althought this time is only symbolic as it is based on a genealogy that represent the 6 days of creation, with 1 day equal to 1000 years.

The deposits from the Ice Age have destroyed much of what might have been deposits from Noah's Flood.

The Ice age may have started with the Noah's Flood some million years ago.

The last cycle of creation as it starts in he second verse of the Bible, represents though the epoch after the destruction of the dinosaurs. When man had to be created anew. But man has always existed all the 4.5 B.Y. We were alive when God created Heaven and Earth all from the Beginning, when we looked and laughed in joy.

By Satan's fall, sin was introduced and death began to prevail more and more of God's creation. Therefore the Fossil record starts at about 600 m.y. B.P. Before that there may be found something similar to coral remnants, but these only represent the houses of living creatures though.

The fossil record thus doesn't represent evolution, but rather the death record of creatures as they started to die off. The most primitive organisms started to die first. And so the death began to evolve to more and more complicated organisms.

Aaaah, evolution of death, ha, ha, ha, ha,....

Oh my God

That was a revelation, oh why didn't I think about that?
Thank you my Lord, for you everlasting kindness uswards.
------------
They debunk the Bible by saying that you my God has told that the Earth is only 6000 years old.

Oh Science is more reliable than your written Word. Evolution is Science so Evolution must be right also.

God and Jesus does not exist. Oh I am so happy.

Thank you science. For my liberation.

God's favorite angel (Lucifer) turns on him and becomes evil. God creates Adam and Eve. They sin. God destroys the world except for only 8 people, and repents he ever created humans. God destroys the tower of Babel and confounds the builders as a punishment for trying to reach heaven. God expects us to love and worship him, based on writings from people far in the past. The people today have umpteen believes, and almost all claim they're right and all others are wrong.
Failure after failure after failure...from a perfect, loving God?
When are you people who believe in this God ever going to quit hypnotizing yourselves, do some real research besides asking your preacher or reading religious material, and find out who and why the Catholic church (the first Christian church) and the Bible were created? When are you ever going to put two and two together and realize that DNA enforces the theory of evolution? (Seems to me DNA would be the VERY place to disprove evolution...if this "loving, caring" God really existed).
Science has never once stated there is no God. I would never put stock in any scientist who says "I'm going to prove there is no God with my theories" just as I'd never put trust in anyone who says "I'm going to prove God exists through my theories". Science is research in a quest for knowledge of how our physical world works and has no position on the existence of God. It finds what it finds.
One of the first scientific discoveries was that the earth is a sphere. Do you deny that? Then the discovery that the earth revolves around the sun. Do you deny that? Science discovered ways to cure illnesses. Do you deny that? Shall we not treat ourselves if science can cure, because if we do get sick, it's God will and science is "against God"?
Please, people...please...use your common sense. Maybe there is a God, but the bible/religion is definitely not the place to find him...or her...or it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23924328

I don't think God expects "us" in general to love and worship him, though he knows some will.

You say:
"When are you people who believe in this God ever going to quit hypnotizing yourselves, do some real research besides asking your preacher or reading religious material, and find out who and why the Catholic church (the first Christian church) and the Bible were created?"

But I think, in so saying you are presuming and assuming a lot about me that you can't really know. I think that's as bad as if science were to state there is no God. You are implying here that that would be presumptuous on their part, right?:
"Science has never once stated there is no God. I would never put stock in any scientist who says "I'm going to prove there is no God with my theories" "

How will I find out the "truth" about "1st Christian church"[not the Catholic, I believe] or "how the Bible was created?"

Reading on GLP?
Because I've read a lot of stuff over and over on here, for instance, that the Catholic church decided the Bible canon, and I have researched and posted here several times how exactly that isn't the case.

Heliocentrism?
Galileo had trouble with his heliocentric claims because Thomas Aquinas had adopted Pythagoras' view, via Aristotle,of an earth centered model, and it became bedrock church dogma.
One religion writer observed: “The lesson to be learned from Galileo, it appears, is not that the Church held too tightly to biblical truths; but rather that it did not hold tightly enough.” By allowing Greek philosophy to influence its theology, the church bowed to tradition rather than follow the teachings of the Bible.

100% speculation about eyeballs mutating is not evidence. It's science fiction writing.

Organisms have diverse genetic function. You can't explain 'diverse function' with a series of 'non-function adding mutations.' Unless you also want to say something is heavy because it lacks weight. It's not logical.

He is spot on correct.

evolution is only found in books, and too many text books at that.
“If Noah’s flood really did occur, what would you expect to find? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth.” And guess what we find? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth.
