Knight, if it's not too personal, may I ask where you lived that these virtues were upheld? The only environments that I can think of which could provide this are either a monastic/religious order of some kind, or (oddly enough) a prison. My late husband was a resident in a few prisons during his early life, and he used to tell me that the inmates learned to be totally truthful and honest, because where would a person escape to if it were found out that he had cheated or stolen from another inmate? DHS, all the invasion and erosion of civil liberties were allowed to be born by suppressing this woman's story it seems. Her statements, if she was allowed to say things, would have been a huge wrench to a system going pretty extreme itself.
