What is the root cause of such behavior though and why is it on the rise? I don't think that it's simply that the police are on a power trip.

You see, people don't often kill when they feel they have power over another. They kill when they have reason to believe they don't, and think they should.

People react with violence under fairly consistent circumstances however, even though they aren't always consciously aware of them.

When the following factors become unbalanced people act.

1. They feel frustration.

2. Anger.

3. The current level of fear as to retribution or personal danger. (Mainly the first one, since obviously if you are being actively attacked with lethal force and are trained well, you'll respond then too. That isn't violence to my thinking, but self defense.)


The police are, I believe, becoming more violent because the last factor has been largely removed over the last few decades.

In some locations there is also a high level of steroid abuse, which can lead to an increase in irrational anger.

So when people don't do what they want (frustration) and they know that real punishment won't come down for their actions, they become more likely to react with violence.

They don't all do it, because some still feel that they will be punished for wrong doing, at least on some level and others have been trained into enough fear of retribution from the public that they won't act unless it's needed.

To change their actions we need to make sure they learn to remain calm, don't do drugs that agitate them and are intelligent enough to reduce feelings of frustration in normal circumstances.

Then they need to know that unlawful killing will have real and consistent consequences that being an officer will not protect them from.

Who keeps a power drill under the seat of their car and then reaches for it to use as a weapon? The tard got what he deserved...
