Its Thanksgiving Week-end in Canuckistan
Just wondering what the GLP posse is thankful for this fine October week-end?

I'm thankful President Obama got his arse kicked in the debate the other night.

What say you GLP?

What's on the menu up in Canuckistan?

Turkey and dressing?

Or back bacon and maple syrup?

Canadian Bacon with Maple Glaze
Ingredients

* ½ cup cider vinegar
* ¾ cups maple syrup
* 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
* 1 pound (approximately) Canadian bacon

Procedure

1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
2. Combine vinegar, maple syrup, and brown sugar in a bowl. Set aside.
3. Slice Canadian bacon about ½-inch thick. Arrange the slices in a casserole or baking dish, and spoon the syrup mixture over the slices.
4. Bake for 30 minutes. Serve hot or at room temperature. (To serve as a snack, cut slices into bite-sized pieces and serve with toothpicks.)

All of the above ... props for your recipe!

PS You may have heard we had a wee problem with the maple syrup strategic reserves. Is nothing sacred anymore?

Cheers FE!

nope, I'm having for main meal
deep fried
wings, fries, onion rings, jalepino peppers, mushrooms
with sausage, cheese, pickels, salads, fruit, croisannts, pie
cupcakes, tarts and icecream. That is my thanksgiving meal.
They wanted to deep fry a turkey, I hate turkey, so seeing as we
have the fryer out, and I am putting it on.
I am thankful to be able to put on and feed a bunch of
people even tho yall think it is greasy food and bad for you
I never do the deep frying thing till this weekend.

Happy T day to all my fellow Canucks!

I am thankful for my family, friends and this beautiful country we call home.

Can't wait till the smell of the turkey and pumpkin pie is wafting through the house. Yum yum.

That was a fine week-end in the north-eastern boreal forest! The fall colours were in full display.

Alas its all over, but for the turkey sandwiches .... mmmmm

Oddly, I have a hankering for maple-bacon pancakes. Can't imagine why?

There's a terrific duality to thanksgiving.

It is a time to celebrate life, nature, hopefully a plentiful bounty of nature's produce, and yet is is a signal of the completion of the cycle, which must begin before rebirth in the spring.

Bittersweet.
