Dr. Einstein User ID: 24857213 United States 10/06/2012 01:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | what i would like to know is anywhere in the gulf are there earthquakes from the coast of LA down? i would relly like to know this. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24950264 the gas is coming up from a deposit deep in the earth's crust, travels through fissures and cracks in the rock strata. and certainly there is Nothing that can be capped because it's everywhere in the ground. and i suppose that they could drill 50 relief wells and hope that the damn gas deposit empties in 10 or 20 years. but, what if this gargantuan gas deposit is deeper than any technology can drill? in that case the natural gas would just keep creeping and creeping, making every area it saturated uninhabitable. so, how much area will this "thing" saturate? only all of Assumption Parish? all of Southern Louisiana (including New Orleans)? just how far will this gas permeate the ground and make entire areas uninhabitable? (and to what extent will any of this gas collect into huge clouds with the proper air-fuel mixture to make it an explosion hazard?).... whynot just start to bottle or pipe the gas and sell it cheap. If thereis that much gas in there we could pay everybody's debt and get unearthly rich on the interest, and make a little money, to boot, on the gas. the gas is saturating the ground like a sponge. what are they going to do? get giant vacuum cleaners to suck it all up? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5648569 The nuclear power plants in the surrounding areas melting down simultaneously would render not only the immediate areas uninhabitable but the entire country and beyond. This is a ridiculous hypothesis and totally implausible. you grossly underestimate the incompetence of our leaders. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25063930 United States 10/06/2012 03:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I moved because their was strange bubbles coming up in the pond and under the house,no gas lines were ever on that property(I checked all that out)with the city/county. The guys from the city said it could be just an old pocket of methane,im like wtf?I was gone the next week. I went under the house for a waterline break from freezing weather and fixed it but i could hear/see dirt on the ground just pop, like ping type pop. Caught on with the bubbles in the small pond about a month before this, was very strange but didnt get scared until i went under the house. I think the water might have pushed it up or something,i have no idea but would get headaches and flu symptoms from time ta time even when it wasnt the season for it. Was only living in that spot a little over a year. |

I am worried. Years ago while living in new orleans i read a story in a local paper about someone doing a test on the water tables, the test came back with results of water coming all the way from colorado into the tables around New orleans. They used dyes in diff parts of the country and watched/traced the waters where they would come out at. |
