just to put our mind at easy OP.....
no one with knowledge of the BP rupture said it was going to blow....just it could.
one of the other things that people like Mat Simmons said, and was going public with up till his death was ....
the wells BP drill had destroyed the ground around BOTH well heads and rupture so bad way under the seabed that with the high pressure of these reserves would push all the hydrocarbon way north of the coastline and would start coming up. creating all kind of trouble in land...like salt dome collapses EQ's and might effect the new madrid fault.
here was a man back in 2010 talking about salt dome collapses.

BP drilled 2 wells about a mile apart.
A had pressure issues and was left with a leaky BOP.
