Re: BREAKING: HUGE LEVELS of METHANE at and around LA Sinkhole!!!
This is going to be a game changer. My brother in law is a geographical engineer and manages a massive quarry plus coal line drill site. He says there's no way to fix this, nothing known to him or industry standards that can be done. I've asked him if theres tech, above and beyond todays standards out there. He says maybe in some fields, but nothing that he can believe to make a difference in these problems. He says this would have been detected months ago when it could have been prevented, extreme negligence or planned event. He said that anyone within a hundred miles should leave immediately. This could turn out to be one of the worst events in American history!

I was hearing the same thing about the Gulf Oil Spill and they sealed that well.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24381831

There is nothing to seal here, its deteriating at alarming levels, how do you cap a natural billowing gas eruption, put a cap the size of a small state over the hole???? fissures and capillary gas veins run hundreds of miles and these are slowly opening. This is no good!
 Quoting: shadasonic

I'm not here to argue nor to call bullshit on anyone. I just want to hear a variety of points of view on this. I can't imagine that the gov't is so evil that they would allow several million people to die in a catastrophe without first trying to evacuate. Even during Katrina, a mandatory evacuation was in place. If this is real, the gov't will have to evacuate the entire area.

Ok, let's think this through clearly. If this LA sinkhole is truly the threat that we fear, we should see a mass influx of military and government equipment to that area for the aftermath of the disaster. Can anyone confirm an influx of military and/or government equipment/personnel near LA?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24381831

Not if they don't know how far or how wide its all gonna blow.....would have to wait til after the catastrophe

Sheez I don't think they would have anyone within hundreds if not thousands of miles of it if there is a catastrophic methane release. This could even be an ELE.....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 844118

Yep, it would be the other way around; the military would be shifting everything not nailed down.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25019022

BP hit a fault line.

The repercussions of that are playing out now.

There is a techtonic plate in the LA Bayou.

The Gulf of Mexico is geologically active with smaller faults and a very large methane gas pocket.

NM is covered with criss-crossing patterns of gas pipelines.

There are 15 nuclear plants in the area that would be affected by a major NM event.

A major NM event would be devastating to America.

I don't think the gas will come out of the ground in a large amount . the mush top is going to act like a cap.Its not going to collapse into a giant huge hole. It will look more like a water/oil lake. The well water wont be worth drinking anymore in the area. The land will be shit for thousands of years because of the gas coming out of the ground.Nobody will be able to live anywhere around it , or down wind of it.

Thanks to methane watcher for alerting us. So glad you added that valuable info shada, and Isis, good to see some of the science minds here.

For more dot connecting there are several other threads going and most are presenting the same case a shada's B-I-L has outlined.

I have many relatives in Lake Charles, they are not paying attention to this story, seems to be downplayed in their local news, intentionally.

Im more worried about the 20 mile gas pocket bubble in the gulf of Mexico , after the bp thing.Because its under the ocean it could release massive gas all at once.

Ok, this is more of a believable scenario. A catastrophe in slow motion. That would mean that the gov't would have time to move people out of the area before the area becomes unlivable.

Its all connected. Look up fault line techtonic structure for the US, this is all one long drawn out event and it could easily be the start not the climax, not to mention alot of this is connected seismicaly and connected to electromagnetic mantle fall off. Our geodynamo has slowed ,mantle fluctuation is increasing, this gives rise to huge capillary and pocket fissures opening. Its all one BIG problem

Let me ask this question then....

What are the other Governments to the world doing to protect themselves from this event impacting them?

Where are our underground nuke silos or do these still exist?

Don't know how air flow would affect the fallout of a methane explosion in the gulf but here is our current jet stream for consideration:

Is this news the reason Obummer did such a poor job during the debate? Did he receive news about the high levels of Methane this past week? There are lots of threads about him cancelling most of his appointments on his agenda including a mock debate for his preparation.

Frighteningly, these fissures appear to be growing and connecting with each other. The methane pockmarks are growing in size. Even worse, the weakened sea floor is being heaved up into a massive, fracturing, mound. A geological time bomb, previously locked away under miles of rock, has been disturbed. Fear is growing for the very grim possibility that a methane gas bubble, 15 to 20 miles in diameter, could indeed rupture the sea floor and escape with unimaginable violence.

One more thing wait till pocket collapse causes piezoelectric current buildup and shear pressure release. Notice that area picking up seismically,we've got ground current interaction. This is alot more than a hole getting bigger folks!

"It's not just the crude that is causing problems in the gulf oil spill: Another petroleum byproduct, natural gas, is reported to be leaking in much greater concentrations than previously thought. And not only could the gas be suffocating sea life, but a new analysis warns that a giant, 1,000-year-old methane bubble could soon explode, taking out miles and miles of the ocean floor and causing a violent oil spill tsunami that would threaten the entire gulf coastline."

I thought we might have a few years till a huge methane release from the Arctic. Looks like it might be the GOM.

I'm like 90% sure this is what TPTB have been prepping for. Methane.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 844118

The Arctic Methane Hydrates are already on the move as recorded last Year, here -

'Russian scientists sampling the waters of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf have discovered enormous plumes of methane, some more than a kilometer wide, bubbling up from the thawing seabed - Igor Semiletov, an oceanographer from the Far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said a research cruise late this summer detected more than 100 of these extensive methane “fountains” in an area of less than 10,000 square miles'. Shada can you explain more about the pizoelectric event - it could be a trigger for an explosion?

If so, what would the physical ramifications be in your opinion and what about Florida? If I recall Matt Simmons was very concerned about this very scenario and if it occurred, Florida could be hit by a massive wave, is that consistent with your view?
