Thanks, and Deborah from the Examiner just answered a question I asked about the methane concentrations there and this is what she said: "Levels as high as 22,400, 26,600 and 27, 700 ug/L. Locals say they can taste it in their drinking water" BTW, if y'all get a change, give this lady a big thank you for all her GREAT reporting on the sinkhole story. She has been faithfully following and reporting on this. She is also a human rights activist. Can anyone that knows about methane concentrations give some advice about these amounts? I'm checking with a group of scientists I know to see what they have to say about these methane concentrations... |
Tropicalgirl User ID: 1235443 United States 10/07/2012 12:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Matt Simmons said that worst case scenario for FL would be a methane explosion in the GOM, causing an enormous wall of water and fire (80-100ft high) at super sonic speeds would come ashore on FL's west coast, wiping out much of the state. After researching all of this in the spring/summer of 2010, I MOVED the hell out of St. Petersburg, FL! I walked away from a life of 17 years in that area because of what seems to be unfolding NOW! I haven't been back since. May God watch over all of you who live along the Gulf coast. But this thing, should it come to pass, will effect millions of us, no matter where we live. It breaks my heart. Thanks SL. Mr. Simmons thought it could put most of Florida underwater. His vision of the aftermath matches up to the infamous Future Navy Map of the US fairly closely. I've been telling my family in LA and TX, but they aren't seeing it on the news, so disregard the warnings. Prayers for all on the Gulf Coast. |

All I know is that over 8.3% in a natural environment is lethal immediately, on a combustability scale I'm not sure, but theres no way residents are tasting this in their water, C4 is nondiscernable, its the associated sulfates they detect.Which again is very bad. “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 844118 Sheez I don't think they would have anyone within hundreds if not thousands of miles of it if there is a catastrophic methane release. This could even be an ELE..... Yep, it would be the other way around; the military would be shifting everything not nailed down out of that area. What about the aftermath? The gov't has to be able to help people affected by the disaster. They can't just haul-ass out of there and leave everyone behind. Screw that marxist socialism crap. |

Just when I thought this government couldn't be any more corrupt!!!!!! But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Corinthians 2:14 God doesn't choose favorites.. They choose HIM It is not the greatness of my faith that moves mountains but my faith in the greatness of God |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 22054163 United States 10/07/2012 01:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes I know about the methane fear I sit on top of a mountain that is nothing but methane tunnels and caverns. Man mad some even sealed up many open and operating. I also see the natural gas wells all around us in the mountains. If things got bad enough with the amount of industry tunneling and pocketing the mountains. Then yes we would get blown towards the moon by fire. If the Madrid rocks or that Cascadia it could do the same. We may say not we may think not but what ever..I think so anything is possible. What happens like that in the Mississippi comes back on us. |
shadasonic User ID: 15732022 United States 10/07/2012 01:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in the natural gas business they are smelling and tasting the H2S which is lethal in large doses Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24723935 Yeah it has to be H2S as C4 is indescernible, but that detection is bad news in itself. Anonymous Coward User ID: 15256858 United States 10/07/2012 01:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We are totally screwing up our nation, our world, our planet. I do believe this thing is going to blow. Pray and pray hard for the very souls of all those that live within this area that they may be received into heaven and find peace with their creator. I don't see any solution to this except that this sinkhole/methane/butane vent itself or erupt. Those living in that area will either be vaporized or incinerated to death. Pray for them. Pray that some of them will leave there and survive. Pray that this doesn't spreat further and further. For GOD's sake PRAY! Watch for when you see the technicians start leaving or rather RUNNING FROM THE AREA. Or, there will just be an instantanous explosion without warning and that part of America will just burn. Dear GOD have mercy on the innocents that are victims of stupidity, corrupton, mistakes and all else by those that they trusted to DO THEIR JOBS CORRECTLY AND HAVE AND ARE FAILING. |

I am more than 100 miles away, east northeast. It's something here all the damned time. We have disaster fatigue.
