Arkansas is my home and I lived in NY for a while when I was young and found nothing desirable about the people.

Biggest consumer products outsourcer = Walmart. Based in Arkansas. RED State.

Yeah, Walmart sucks. So do a lot of other companies that happen to be based in Blue States. Otherwise, Arkansas isn't bad for the most part, unless you have something against clean air, waterways, mountains and forests and the wildlife that goes along with them. Or unless you're a gun-grabbing liberal; the locals aren't exactly going to welcome you if you are.

I currently live in Illinois and I can see lot of welfare people around here. No wonder why Illinois has the highest unemployment rate of 9.8% in the Nation.

If you want to live in left-wing, crime ridden,
sexual perversion abounding,
political corruption pervading states,
by all means, go blue.

I'm in beautiful West Virginia, where we cling
to God and Guns and the Bible.
Most of us grow much of our own food.
I get my water from a crystal clear mountain spring.
Free, with no fluoride or chlorine, thank you.
In my neck of the woods there hasn't been a crime
of any kind for decades, and the last violent crime
was a hundred years ago.

Life is pretty much like paradise up here in the
clean mountain air, and just about anyone here would
sooner go to hell than to New York or California.

I live in California. The thing about California is people not from here think the entire state is Los Angeles lol. There are many pockets of pristine, beautiful, clean, no crime areas. Lots, actually. But, like anywhere, those areas are outside of the large urban areas. Texas is a Red State, but Dallas is riddled with crime.

I'm glad to hear about your situation in West Virginia. It's a beautiful state, yes. I visited years ago. Loved it. Really like walking around Harper's Ferry.

Just for the record, I think Los Angeles is hell on earth. :)
 Quoting: Thor's Hamster

But I live in northern CA, thankfully.
 Quoting: Thor's Hamster

So true Thor - those Californians who live in the State of Jefferson area or on the Lost Coast know the truth of the matter. Cleanest air, water and food available in America, bar none. Also the most self sufficient, independent, and skillful Americans I've met. If the shit ever hits the fan, there is only one place I think that will be relatively unfazed by said theoretical SHTF collapse, and it won't be within Oklahoma or Texas, Montana, the U.P. or Virginia.

I've never been to Arkansas. I'd like to. It does look like a beautiful state. :)

There are more states than that. You forgot the greatest red state of all - Texas.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23478607

EWW texas smells like Swamp ass. That state should be made into a parking lot for the Mexico. Lone star state ha, don't kid yourself, the only reason its called that is because Mexico nor the US wanted that waste land. Nothing good comes out of texas. Never meet a texan I liked or would even piss on if they were on fire. Puerto Rico would be a better state than texas.

Hate to break it to you, but your Blue States aren’t actually "blue." Mostly, they’re states full of Red counties with pockets of Blue urban blight in them. Please feel free to look at a map of the electoral results county by county in each state. In fact all around our great nation the blue areas are urban war zones like downtown Detroit,Chicago, Miami, St. Louis,Atlanta and the ever-popular District of Columbia. If these sound like desirable places to you I hope you are well practiced in your Mozambique Drill.
I may just kill You for fun.

Re: Why are BLUE STATES desirable to live in, but RED STATES aren't as much?
Correction;

Oklahoma has the best economy in the country. Our unemploment rate is the lowest in the nation.

If one wants to work in Oklahoma, there's a job to be had.

Also of note, not one single county went to Obama last presidential election. Oklahoma rocks.

Desirable doesn't equate to logical.

I've been to Oklahoma(Bartlesville,Oklahoma city,Tulsa) and felt very depressing for some reason.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6870905

OKC was a bit depressing, maybe it's the dead spirts from that Federal bombing.

But Tulsa is nice. It must have more doctors per capita than anywhere else in the country. And they have some choice about where they live.

Illinois is depressing, dragged down by Chicago I guess. And now that the tax rate went up, businesses that were only there for the low taxes closed or moved. And taxes of course had to go up to pay for stuff in Chicago.
