The latest Syrian shell hit land near a plant belonging to the Turkish Grain Board, several hundred meters from the center of Akcakale, where five civilians were killed on Wednesday in previous Syrian shelling.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in the latest incident.

Earlier in the morning, Syrian rebels had seized a Syrian army outpost near the Turkish border and a rebel flag flew over the building, while clashes could be heard in the area of a nearby Syrian village, a Reuters witness and villagers said.

Villagers said the rebels had taken control of the three-storey white building, around 1 km (mile) from the border on a hill overlooking the Turkish village of Guvecci, on Saturday, and raised the flag of the Free Syrian Army above it...

An Associated Press video journalist witnessed the shell landing some 200 meters (200 yards) inside Turkey, near the border town of Akcakale. A short time later, eight mortars could be heard fired from Turkey.

Town mayor Abdulhakim Ayhan confirmed that Turkish artillery immediately returned fire. He said shrapnel from the Syrian mortar caused some damage to a grain depot, but no one was hurt by the shelling.

The Anadolu Agency reported that Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces have been shelling the town of Tal Abyad, just across from Akcakale, which is controlled by Syrian rebels.

Obviosly, the terrorists are trying to get Turkey and NATO involved in the conflict by firing shells into Turkey. The leaders of NATO at least got some braincells functioning and are staying on the sidelines out of fear that an attack on Syria might get Iran involved in the conflict, and possible Russia too. Russia has an important naval base in Tartas in Syria, giving Russia a permanent presence in the Mediterranean sea.
