So what limitations as far as size, power, and debt they were able to create would you place on the receivers of all that money you want to just hand over to them without any conditions?

How much money and what value do you place on our servants (government) how many servants can we afford?
How much money can our servants be allowed to take from us?
Is it fair for our servants to hire more and more servants even if we can't afford what we have, and then just bill our children?

What's funny is that repugnicans never extoll the wonders of Trickle Down the way they did in the Reagan years. Back then, they were always bragging about how brilliant it was that they could lower taxes and increase revenues. Of course, it never happened and now we're ruined.

I say 10% tax across the board, that is for city, state, gas, car, federal, everything can not add up to more than 10% of your income. Then let our servants figure out how to survive after their credit cards have all been cut up.

I find the mentality of todays 20-30 somethings hard to get my head wrapped around.

At 18, I joined the Army, because I had zero skills.

I needed something to further me along, in Life.

Now, the military isn't for everyone, but I thought it was my best bet at getting skills that would help me.

When I got out, I married and we decided that even if we were poor, it was ok.

Our love was and still is that strong.

So, I went to work at a job paying $5.80 an hour and was quite pleased. (this was in '90)

I knew I had to learn, and earn my way to a top wage, which I did.

Now, at 45; we are comfortable.

Not blindingly rich, but saved and lived simply.

We could both retire and be care-free.

Oddly, (explain this to the OWS crowd) we both love what we do, and will keep doing it as long as we can.

Sadly, I don't see this kind of drive in the kids, these days.

20% of the income of someone that makes 11,000 a year is about 2,200, now that doesn't sound like very much does it? Except costs of living are simply OUTRAGEOUS. $2,200, or 20% of the income of somebody who lives in poverty, can be the difference of whether they are homeless, starving, and can even keep their minimum wage crap job.

The average family of four probably needs AT LEAST 2,200 every month to live comfortably, and that's if we're assuming that rent is a very small percentage of their bills because they're in a crap apartment! I'd honestly wager that number to be higher with how much food costs lately.

A family living below the poverty line simply can't afford to give up 20% of their income, because even a "measly" 20% becomes a larger and larger chunk the smaller the number that you must figure out the 20% comes from. That is SIMPLE math.

Therefore, 20% of the income of someone that has a multi-million dollar enterprise becomes a great deal of money, but overall because the original number is so large this seemingly large amount of money is actually much less of a chunk of the percentage for the wealthy. The rich can generally afford the cost of living and they should be wise about their investments to continue profits anyway, this is a lot more reasonable of a request.

The Reagan years did see the disappearance of the tax regulations that were keeping the industry in line and staying put in this country.

The wealthier classes may not have an obligation to pay more taxes, but they sure as fuck have an obligation to employ American people and pay them fairly so that we don't see the disappearance of the middle class.

We're turning into Mexico, a nation of a teeming mass of people in poverty working as the underlings of a wealthier elite paying shit wages.

If you don't want that to happen, start taxing the companies that move business out of the country, and bring jobs back here by playing a tax incentive to move manufacturing and etc. jobs back to the American market. I.e. you only get the tax break if you're actively bringing jobs to America

So yeah, I think the tax breaks for the wealthy can go on! But only if they shape the hell up and stop being assholes to us. When they show that they REALLY care about the American economy by ACTUALLY doing something good for us, then we'll talk about a friggin' tax break.

And if you're going to give me the whole welfare state shpeel you should probably look up how small of a percentage that actually is in terms of government spending. The rewards of a mans work should be his to do with as he pleases. If he wants more wealth he has to create more jobs. If he wants to give to charity, that should be his decision, only when men are free to live life and to create, will he prosper.If a man don't work then he should not benefit from the work of others. Look, I'm not saying that taxes aren't poorly managed because they are, and I'm not saying that taxes themselves were even originally a necessity in this nation, because they weren't.

But the fact is we're here now in this industrialized nation, we, the people, are taxed for SOMETHING, and it turns out that something is more often than not something we wouldn't want to invest in ourselves, but we do anyway because of the aforementioned necessity of the infrastructure and in general dependence on society to survive.

I dunno, short of total and shitty collapse that has to be rebuilt from smaller communities that survive, the more viable and immediate solution seems to be to use those taxes fairly, and to actually use them in a way that distributes the value amongst the community of people.

So I dunno man, give up your industrialized society and be "free" or try to work with the cards you've been dealt.

Either solution requires a great deal of going back to square 1 and won't come without a lot of hardship and the people that it matters to fighting for it.

You need to learn what wealthy really is. You attack people making over $100k but even the government says that the middle class is people earning $40-120k. Hopefully you can stop believing the lies of both parties and not just one or the other.
