You may be about to lose the right to sell your stuff
It could become illegal to resell your iPhone 4, car or family antiques

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — Tucked into the U.S. Supreme Court’s busy agenda this fall is a little-known case that could upend your ability to resell everything from your grandmother’s antique furniture to your iPhone 4.

At issue in Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons is the first-sale doctrine in copyright law, which allows you to buy and then sell things like electronics, books, artwork and furniture as well as CDs and DVDs, without getting permission from the copyright holder of those products.

A Supreme Court case could limit the resale of goods made overseas but sold in America. Under the doctrine, which the Supreme Court has recognized since 1908, you can resell your stuff without worry because the copyright holder only had control over the first sale.

Put simply, though Apple has the copyright on the iPhone and Mark Owen does on the book “No Easy Day,” you can still sell your copies to whomever you please whenever you want without retribution.

That’s being challenged now for products that are made abroad and if the Supreme Court upholds an appellate court ruling it would mean that the copyright holders of anything you own that has been made in China, Japan or Europe, for example, would have to give you permission to sell it. I'll bet Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor vote for tyranny.

This is exactly why Obama has got to go.

Wiley Publishing admits they sell their textbooks for less money in Thailand, but sues him for copyright infringement, why is this case even being brought to court? Is the judge a brother in law of the lawyer for Wiley Publishying?

I know Microsoft granted copies of Windows to 100 million people in Indonesia for $1, you could have just bought up millions of copies in Indonesia and resold them, but Gates fought that and now you can't buy computers with hard drives at the Goodwill store.

It's part of their hip trendy catering to the 'poor' people in other countries, and they want to slap Americans hands if they try and get in on the cheap deals. We are too rich and too spoiled to be given Windows software for $1, we should pay $100 for it.

YOu know, people like Bill Gates run around in Africa, pretending to be in love with their children, but if you are a poor American white child, going to good will to buy a second hand computer, Bill Gates will sue the good will store if it's got a copy of windows on the hard drive.

It is not even legal for microsoft to be pressuring Goodwill and used computer stores not to resell their software, you should legally be able to resell your copy of windows.

It's just the twisted irony of these liberal do gooder hipsters, they are like Jekyl and Hyde, they have this one personality, where they pretend to be loving and wonderful and kiss little african babies, and then they have this alternative, ogre personality, where they sue little American white children for having a second hand copy of their windows software.

Seriously, what is wrong with these psycho liberals? It's like they need someone to take it out on, to beat up, and then they need someone to be nice to, it's like some sort of law of conservation of dickishness.
