so thats why they talk of asteroids in children's cartoons lately?

they are preparing the little ones minds to accept what will be coming in the future?

Some videogames too, like the game from ID Software:
Rage

which is about a asteroid ravage Earth and also has a NWO entity you fight against.

Not to talk about the Post Apocalyptic movies, been a bunch of metero flicks after Armageddon and Deep Impact.

One even was called Meteor.

Some research and you'll see it's just a matter of time until we get whacked. A month, a year or 10? We don't know and that's half the fun!
We'll be blindsided by a serious motherfucker one day for sure :-)

Now why would anyone in the know allow news of impact to be communicated days, hours, even minutes before impact?

Get real and understand that you will get NO notice. None at all. Now go about your business and if we get whacked you will know when it hits, that's about it.

Very close approach... with distance estimate rated as 7 0-9 scale 0 being very good 9 being unsure so calculations of orbit and distance from earth not real good certainly could be closer
[link to youtu.be]
[link to youtu.be]
It is estimated that a 30-year advance warning would be required to have a reasonable
assurance of deflecting a NEO from a collision with Earth. Thus, if a future impactor were
identified today, the time to explore the characteristics of the NEO, develop a deflection
system, deliver it to the NEO, and apply the deflection early enough to prevent an
impact, requires about a 3-decade lead time.-- Mike Griffin, 2005, Testimony to Congress [link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]
5.1-14
Detected Airburst (Bolide) Events between 2003 and 2005
U.S. early warning satellites detected a flash that indicated an energy release comparable
to the Hiroshima burst. We see about 30 such bursts per year, but this one was one of
the largest we have ever seen. The event was caused by the impact of a small asteroid,
probably about 5-10 meters in diameter, on the earth's atmosphere. --Statement of
Brigadier General Simon P. Worden, Vice Director of Operations, United States Space

A small asteroid 2012 TC4 discovered Oct 4th will whiz by
Earth (0.0006 AU) and Moon on October 12th

Orbit uncertainty is 7 on scale 0-9 with 0 = good and 9 = highly uncertain

Only 4 space rocks have come closer in the last year [link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]

Here they are with quakes closest to there approach dates:

2012 KT42 --- 2012-May-29 --- 0.05/0.00014
2012 KP24 --- 2012-May-28 --- 0.1/0.0004 --- Mag 6.7 ARGENTINA 2012-May-28

"For 15 years, scientists have benefited from data gleaned by U.S. classified satellites of natural fireball events in Earth's atmosphere – but no longer.

"A recent U.S. military policy decision now explicitly states that observations by hush-hush government spacecraft of incoming bolides and fireballs are classified secret and are not to be released, SPACE.com has learned."

The Moon is in an elliptical 28-day orbit ranging from 220,000 to about 252,000 miles from Earth.
On average, the center of the Moon is about 238,700 miles from the -CENTER- of

So, If:
2012 TC4
Oct 12
0.2 LD

Then take the average LD of 238,700 miles
0.2 means 2/10ths for those who dropped out of school early.

= 47,740 miles

Allowing for: The average distance to the centre of the Earth is 6,371 km or 3,959 miles.

The meteor will be about:

= 43,781 from your homes sitting on the earth's crust. :)

yes like the one that dived into sweden 2 years back, or the remains of it.
It exploded somewhere over northern europe/scandinavia
And left a loud booming sound like thunder
Could be heard as far away as 500 miles
And the airburst did light up the sky as it were day time for a few seconds

Asteroid 2012 TC4, will come even closer on the night of Oct. 11-12. At 11:57 p.m. (CDT) Oct. 11, the speedy visitor will book across the sky 59,000 miles from Earth’s surface. Because of its small size – about 45 to 90 feet across – it will appear as a very faint, fast-moving star in large amateur telescopes at that time. Earlier that evening, the viewing angle will be better and 2012 TC4 will shine brighter at magnitude 13.6. This will make it a decent catch in an scopes 8-inches.
