Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25130804 I know UNIX os and networked mini computers (SunSparc). Not every enterprise went hogwild changing the internal clock of their systems. And nothing happened, or if there was a glitch it was minor and easily dealt with after the fact. Easily dealt with. Tell that to United Health Care which lost over a 400-million dollars in 2001/2 due to law suits related to failed IT. Law suits related to failed IT. Interesting. Can you cite one case for us? Ummm, I just did. No, not yet you havent. United Health Care versus Who? What were the3 circumstances. You say "failed IT",, or was it simply compensation for the salary of people like you. The date of the litigation would be of interest since legislation was passed in 1999 to prevent frivolous lawsuits. Not every country went through the level of hysteria as the US, and therefore didnt "prepare". And nothing happened. Or maybe you know something and have concrete examples of failed IT that caused disruption (or at least more disruption than the supposed cure). |

I can just picture Thousands of doomsday's scratching around in the stores, desperately looking for turkey, gifts and wrapping paper. It'll get angry out there . . That's most likely how the upcoming "American Civil War" will ACTUALLY begin! Two people will start fighting over the last toy in the bin and it'll be on like Donkey Kong!! Captain Spaulding User ID: 24590107 United States 10/07/2012 10:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's just interesting how coincidentally the Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (Terence McKenna decoded it) and Mayans all wrote about that date so long ago. Then that info is correlated with new found science/astronomical information about how our solar system and it's planets, the center of our galaxy and the center of the universe align then, with out galaxy crossing from above to below the equator of our universe on that date. And how the ancients knew it so long ago and all they had for observatories was a couple of sticks. Just the fact that they knew it was a special date that lines up with knowledge we just obtained with all our "modern" technology is kind of amazing. I SUGGEST READING "THE COMPLETE IDIOTS GUIDE TO 2012". It explains where all the hype and excitement is coming from, and leaves you just going "hmmm, that's interesting", and drawing your own conclusions from facts, not drama queens or hype. The calender(s) don't end. They just start over in new cycles from the beginning all over again. READ THE BOOK! It's cool. |

For someone who was involved in the hysteria, making a good living off of it no doubt, you cannot provide one instance of Y2K related IT failure, post 2000. Not one example. Not one case of litigation into "wrongful deaths". Indeed the readings I have found relate to litigation of the disruption caused by remediation -- your very job. |
