I know UNIX os and networked mini computers (SunSparc). Not every enterprise went hogwild changing the internal clock of their systems. And nothing happened, or if there was a glitch it was minor and easily dealt with after the fact.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25130804

Easily dealt with. lol

Tell that to United Health Care which lost over a 400-million dollars in 2001/2 due to law suits related to failed IT.
 Quoting: wisc_natureboy

Law suits related to failed IT. Interesting. Can you cite one case for us?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25130804

Ummm, I just did.
 Quoting: wisc_natureboy

No, not yet you havent. United Health Care versus Who? What were the3 circumstances. You say "failed IT",, or was it simply compensation for the salary of people like you. The date of the litigation would be of interest since legislation was passed in 1999 to prevent frivolous lawsuits.

Not every country went through the level of hysteria as the US, and therefore didnt "prepare". And nothing happened. Or maybe you know something and have concrete examples of failed IT that caused disruption (or at least more disruption than the supposed cure).

It is humourous that nobody has ever done a 'peer-reviewed' critical analysis of the Gregorian Calendar versus the Mayan.

December 21, 2012 will be just another day.
 Quoting: wisc_natureboy

Considering all of the changes through the millennia, I once asked a similar question, only to be told "they've taken all that into account".

I really don"t believe "them".

It's been about 10 years since the lawsuits ended.
The suits are public record in the State of Texas.

US Congressional action stopped all legal action against UHC in 2003.
It is public record, find it yourself.

Considering that the Maya calendar can predict future events such as solar eclipses, and we can also predict those same eclipses, the two calenders are easily synchronized.

How was EC devastated? What IT failures actually happened Jan 1, 2000? Did the cheques stop being issued?, did the respirators stop functioning?, Did the CatScans suddenly blast lethal levels of radiation? What?

I am asking for concrete examples..

Re: 75 Shopping Days Until We're All Dead!!!
It's just interesting how coincidentally the Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (Terence McKenna decoded it) and Mayans all wrote about that date so long ago.

Then that info is correlated with new found science/astronomical information about how our solar system and it's planets, the center of our galaxy and the center of the universe align then, with out galaxy crossing from above to below the equator of our universe on that date.

And how the ancients knew it so long ago and all they had for observatories was a couple of sticks. Just the fact that they knew it was a special date that lines up with knowledge we just obtained with all our "modern" technology is kind of amazing.

I SUGGEST READING "THE COMPLETE IDIOTS GUIDE TO 2012". It explains where all the hype and excitement is coming from, and leaves you just going "hmmm, that's interesting", and drawing your own conclusions from facts, not drama queens or hype.

The calender(s) don't end. They just start over in new cycles from the beginning all over again. READ THE BOOK! It's cool.

My only condemnation was my reference to hogs to your self congratulatory comment,, And I am researching as we speak, esp the companies you mentioned and the lawsuits you say exist. And what I cant find I am asking for exact lawsuits and examples.

So are you now saying that IT failures caused the wrongful deaths of extended care recipients? Like how? And again, can you cite a specific case? Now another question: why did the lawsuits disappear UHC bought EC?

It is your posts that are too funny for the meanderings to avoid answering my questions. For someone who was involved in the hysteria, making a good living off of it no doubt, you cannot provide one instance of Y2K related IT failure, post 2000. Not one example. Not one case of litigation into "wrongful deaths". Indeed the readings I have found relate to litigation of the disruption caused by remediation -- your very job.

While several Y2K-related, health care class action lawsuits have now been filed, they have only focused upon the damages incurred in remediating (upgrading or replacing) purportedly non-compliant medical software that was sold to doctors and hospitals as being Y2K compliant.
