Money, including tax money is fungible. One tax dolar is the same as the next when collected and when spent. Taxes are collected by the federal government and social programs are paid for by the federal government.

Because the roads you use, the schools you, your family uses, the police that protect you and the firemen that would protect your house in a fire are all paid for by taxes and if basic human decency doesn't do it for you, the fact you yourself use the system and what it pays out is a pretty good reason to pay in.
