Could this possibly be from the 18,000 (eighteen thousand / no I didn't add an extra zero) fracking wells they have drilled in the last few years in Weld County. NOAA Seems to think so. Unfortunately, the same loophole that exempts fracking from the Clean Air and Clean Water legislation the rest of us have to follow also applies to geothermal energy production.

So, lucking Utah can go right ahead and exploit those geothermal vents without any regulations getting in their way.
