French police detain senior PKK member

French police detained a suspected senior member of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Monday, the Anatolia news agency reported.

The suspected terrorist, whose name has not been disclosed, is believed to have played a key role in provising logistical support to the terrorist group. Two more suspected PKK terrorists were also detained as part of the same investigation, French police said.

The detainees are accused of providing arms for the PKK.

Iran seeks Turkish mediation for release of hostages in Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has once again called for Turkey's assistance to secure the release of 48 Iranian hostages being held by the Syrian opposition forces, according to an Iranian news agency.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian says calm can only be restored between Syria and Turkey if the territorial integrity of the two neighboring countries is upheld.

Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says the Iranian naval forces are ready to extend their presence to the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, south of the Indian Ocean and the South Pole.


Sayyari said on Monday that Iran’s Navy has the capability to extend its presence to the international waters in various locations in the world.
